The student and I prepared for his quiz tomorrow. This quiz will cover the conversion of units, rates of administration for pharmaceutical drugs, and concentration rates for MEQ (milliequivalents). The student and I began the session by working on a math computer game on fractions. Next, we worked on multiplying fractions with whole numbers, reducing fractions, and finding the least common denominator.

Today we focus on past tense regular verbs. We started playing the associated "what's missing" game and she perked up and became very engaged in the lesson and enjoyed the companion story "Silly Willy's Great Day." We completed the lesson by reading from "Inside Out."

The student and I worked on the reading and math sections in this lesson. We started going over questions involving ratios and proportions, which she picked up on quickly. She said this was a topic she'd been struggling with on recent practice math sections. We spent the rest of the lesson working through the reading section, looking closely at short comparison reading passages. We worked on strategies for identifying the purpose of a passage and using this to guide answer choices in comparison questions.
