We worked on questions from a pre-quiz worksheet. The worksheet was word problems that dealt with polynomials and equations of various shapes (i.e. sphere, cube, and pyramid). Once we identified the necessary equations to solve the problems, she easily used the concepts of algebra to work through the factoring, synthetic division, and multiplication of polynomials. She struggled with converting the word statements into mathematical equations. I helped her identify the key words within the word problems to aid in writing the correct equation from the information given. By the end of the lesson, she stated that she had a better understanding of the material and was confident in working through the problems. I also reminded her that she can always check her answers by evaluating the original equation with the results she obtained. If the equation does not hold true then an error was made and she should recheck her calculations. I asked that she work on some additional word problems from her textbook to further help prepare her for the quiz.

The student and I focused just on solving systems of equations algebraically as well as geometrically. We covered the concepts of what solutions mean for systems and then what are the steps required to arrive at the answer. He is now more confident in his ability to use the quadratic equation. We will continue to work on more of these problems in our next session. He was relieved that this process wasn't as hard as it seemed.

During this session we covered how to set up and solve differential equation exponential growth and decay functions. The student seemed to really understand how successfully solve the problems by the end of the session. As always, the student is a great student to work with!

The student and I reviewed several concepts in preparation for his upcoming final exam. We covered fundamentals of solving equations, working with complex fractions, writing functions, and differentiating between different kinds of functions (e.g. linear, exponential, etc.). He had a great attitude and made very good progress. He has a solid grasp of the materials and I expect that he will do very well on his final.

Things the student and I were able to cover include a few math sections (he's improving!) and critical reading. He does well on the passages when we do them together, yet without much help from me.

Today we reviewed graphing equations. At the beginning the student struggled the most with finding the equation based on the table's values, but when we changed to find the values based on an equation he solved pretty fast, so we'll keep working on that in order to let him mature his process and get more confidence on himself
