For this session, the student and I again focused on how to find the domain of a function. We looked at different types of problems in different textbooks as well as a couple of YouTube videos on how to solve for the domain of a function. At the end of the session, he mentioned that he had a better understanding of the material and asked for me to forward the link so he could watch the video on his own time.

Tutoring review by Emily in Beaverton, OR
The student shared that he was unsure about two-digit by two-digit multiplication problems, especially with the concept of a placeholder. We practiced several of these problems and will follow up next session. We completed four worksheets on multiplying by 3, 4, 5, and 6 multiplying each number by numbers up to 12. We also practiced counting by 3s and 4s as I shared that is a shortcut to memorizing the times tables. Another strategy for memorizing the times table is knowing what half of certain even numbers is, so we completed another worksheet on dividing by two. The rest of the time we used flashcards to focus on times tables problems that he has been getting stuck on, such as 6X7, 6X4, 12X6, and 6X8. I left a pile of flashcards with him and asked him to practice at least five minutes a day.

Tutoring review by Rabia in Beaverton, OR
Concepts covered: Derivatives of parametric functions, L'Hopital's Rule, differentials approximation, logarithmic differentiation, and the basics on integration. The student had issues dealing with the trig functions, so I focused the lecture to cover more of the trig functions and assigned practice problems to improve her skills with trig functions. She is improving, especially when I involve her in problem solving. I explain the topic and try to get her involved when I go through the problems. Later, I assigned problems for her to solve.

Tutoring review by Audreyana in Beaverton, OR
We went over factoring various types of polynomials as well as reviewed past homework and tests. The student seemed to have the most problems with recognizing which factoring strategy to use and rushing through his work. He seems to know the overall concepts rather well. I left him with a worksheet which we will go over tomorrow.

Tutoring review by Marco in Beaverton, OR
We went over homework problems that focused on first order differential equations that ended in the form y=Ce^kt. We talked about how we can use various initial conditions to find the constants C and k and then use the equation for various t or y values. We also worked on integration through separation of variables. Overall, it was a productive session.
