SAT Tutoring review by Irina in Vancouver
In this session, we covered writing and the math (calculator) section. The student is stronger in writing, and we managed to get through three of the four writing passages in the SAT prep book. We also worked through several math questions. We will continue to focus on math to increase her confidence with the math questions, focusing especially on algebraic manipulation. She can often figure out the math questions with some help, but our goal will be to increase her ability to find strategies independently.

SAT Tutoring review by Elizabeth in Vancouver
At the beginning, the student and I introduced ourselves and talked about what to expect from our tutoring partnership. Since she is so busy with finals, we won't have any session homework until after school is done. During the rest of the session, we went over some practice problems from different sections of the SAT. She showed great intuition on the verbal questions (reading/ writing and language). She needed help with challenging questions in math and verbal, so we went over them in detail. I am confident we can improve her understanding of these concepts, but it will take some work.

SAT Tutoring review by Jackson in Vancouver
Today we focused on the reading portion of the SAT. We did two reading passages together, and I assigned another two for homework. We've been moving along at a steady pace. My plan for the next few sessions is to build fundamentals as best we can. When we get closer to the test, I'll pivot our focus towards timing.

SAT Tutoring review by Emily in Vancouver
The student and I continued to review for her algebra I exam. We focused on reviewing three concepts--how graphs translate and rotate, exponential functions, and completing the square. We spent most of our review time on the last concept, and reviewed about 15 problems until she understood it better.

SAT Tutoring review by Andy in Vancouver
The student is progressing well. He only missed a few problems in the English section and non-calculator math section. We won't need a full review in either section: merely a targeted review. Excellent job!

SAT Tutoring review by Jeffrey in Vancouver
We covered the reading sections and the writing sections. Just like before, the student has one of the best attitudes towards the subject material. He is always engaging and trying his hardest. He seems to struggle the most with prose passages because of the difficulty of the language in these passages. We will continue to work on these. We discussed study strategies and what I like to do when I study. His understanding of science passages has increased. Like before, I have given him homework that must be finished by Saturday. His desire to do better and the effort he puts into that desire will allow him to do well.
