AP Macroeconomics Tutoring FAQ
Macroeconomics is the study of production, consumption, and government intervention as processes that apply to and affect large groups of people. The Advanced Placement (AP) Macroeconomics exam consists of two portions: a 70-minute, 60-question multiple-choice section and a 60-minute free-response section containing one long essay question and two short essay questions. You may find the course challenging due to the large number of topics it covers in a limited amount of time. It can be unclear to those who are just beginning to study economics which concepts are fundamental and are most likely to appear on the exam and which are relatively minor and are unlikely to appear on the exam. Varsity Tutors can help you connect with AP Macroeconomics tutors all across the country to help you develop the skills and gain the knowledge that you need to do your best on the AP Macroeconomics exam.
In a large class, not every one of your questions can be answered as soon as they occur to you. With in-home private tutoring, however, you can proceed through the concepts in your own time, asking any questions you have to a knowledgeable tutor who is committed to your success. With individualized attention, you may be surprised with how you can truly flourish when you gain a solid mastery of each fundamental concept. In addition, your personal tutor can provide the proper preparation you need to be ready for the exam and feel confident as you take it. They will create an individual tutoring plan for you that revolves around your personal academic goals, whether you wish to complete the exam with time to spare or to achieve a certain score.
One-on-one AP Macroeconomics tutoring can help you master any and all of the concepts covered on the AP exam, such as working with aggregate supply and demand curves; calculating and interpreting important figures, such as the inflation rate and the unemployment rate; understanding how money supply works and how various monetary and fiscal policies affect the interest rate; working with macroeconomic graphs; identifying short-term and long-term changes in aggregate supply and aggregate demand; understanding macroeconomic indicators such as the GDP; and determining the effects of external components and government influence. These, and many other concepts, may prove challenging in a traditional setting. However, your personal AP Macroeconomics instructor can work with you at your learning pace to ensure that you fully comprehend it all.
Your personal tutor can meet whenever and wherever is best suited to your schedule. If you have work, after-school activities, or other responsibilities, they can meet up with you before or after these are completed at a convenient location. Tutors can also meet with you at your home, or if you can't make an in-person session, you can have a face-to-face online session through our live learning platform.
To prepare for the multiple-choice section, your tutor can help you familiarize yourself with the most common question types, trick answers, and strategies for finding the correct answers. To prepare for the free-response section, your tutor can help you practice responding to free-response-style questions and show you how to avoid making errors or omissions. Your tutor can also help you use the particular distribution of grading weights on the exam to help you earn your best score by focusing on bolstering the skills and knowledge that the exam stresses. On a timed exam such as the AP Macroeconomics exam, pacing can mean the difference between finishing in time and leaving questions unanswered. A talented tutor can help you become accustomed to an appropriate pace so that when test day comes, you can make it through the entire exam. Ready to start studying AP Macroeconomics with an experienced tutor? Contact Varsity Tutors today to learn more about getting connected with an AP Macroeconomics tutor in your area.

Recent AP Macroeconomics Tutoring Session Notes
Worked on reading comprehension and composition homework. Spent a long time on reading as it is the student's most tedious subject, but also managed to start working on homework with spelling words. The student had some trouble identifying the long syllables of words.
We again reviewed the initial consonant clusters Sn, Sm, Sp, Sl, St, Sw. This time, I asked the student to think of 2 words for each cluster on her own. She did great with this and only needed minimal help. Then I thought of my own word for each cluster (that she didn't already think of) and asked her to spell it. Goal is to increase the student's familiarity with words that start with these consonant clusters and increase her recognition of the sound each cluster makes and know its spelling. She is doing well with this but sometimes when we review the spelling, she forgets the 2nd consonant. (Example, spell "Spin". She might say "Sin." Then I ask her what happened to the "P" sound, where did it go?) For the final 15 minutes, we reviewed addition and subtraction flashcards. I find it is important to keep her mind fresh and familiar with these quick math problems. Goal with the flashcards is to try to reach mastery of these problems.
The student and I worked on logarithms today. She does very well with the problems that she is familiar with. She should have more confidence because she is really bright!
We focused on Verbal Reasoning and the Essay portions of the MCAT exam. The student was able to quickly learn and apply the proven strategies for each of these sections. Next week we will continue to practice with Verbal Reasoning.
The student and I talked about developmental biology, particularly gastrulation and neurulation. We also talked about the integumentary system, particularly the layers of the epidermis. I gave the student some tips on how best to study anatomy.
Went over his practice SAT test assigned the previous week. After explaining the questions that he got wrong, we discussed essay writing and how to structure the essay. Assigned a geometry review and at least 1 practice test.
