Analytical Chemistry Tutoring FAQ
Analytical chemistry is, at its core, the generation and interpretation of chemical data. In essence, the field encompasses the vast array of laboratory techniques, quantitative manipulations, and intricate procedures and mechanisms inherent in an experimental setting. Building skills and confidence in analytical chemistry can be a slow and challenging endeavor. If you find your lab reports plagued by low yields, high error, and inexplicable complications, consider contacting Varsity Tutors. Let us help you connect with an analytical chemistry tutor who can provide you with the support you need to achieve success.
Chemistry procedures are generally designed to achieve one of three very specific goals: identification, purification, or quantification. Analytical chemistry tutors have mastered numerous laboratory techniques for each of these end goals, and are competent both in performing chemical procedures and in interpreting their results. Whether you are struggling to grasp the significance of a titration half-equivalence point or are designing a means of separating several chemical species from an impure sample, an analytical chemistry tutor can help. From mass spectrometry to extraction, calorimetry to ion chromatography, the diversity of laboratory methods and their mathematical interpretations can make it difficult to master the vast array of techniques required for your course or project. Some analytical chemistry courses even expect you to master the conceptual implications of certain experimental procedures without ever setting foot in a lab. Working with an analytical chemistry expert can give you additional insight into the material covered in your course, leaving you better prepared both for exam day and for the practical application of your new skills in research settings.
Analytical chemistry can be an extremely complex subject. It is very easy to get lost and frustrated. A private tutor can help combat this by acting as a guide and mentor. They can give you direction when you get lost, and offer kind words and encouragement when you feel frustrated.
The targeted approach offered by private tutoring means that you can work with your tutor to custom design your lesson curriculum. The collaborative aspect of private tutoring means that you can skim past concepts that you already understand and direct your time more efficiently to address the concepts with which you struggle. Instructors can make tutoring sessions intuitive and effective, catering to your unique course requirements and learning style to develop individualized lessons that are just right for you. Impersonal lectures and hurried explanations in office hours rarely suffice when you are trying to truly develop your subject mastery.
This is where a private tutor can be extremely beneficial, because they can give you the type of individualized instruction and support that you need. You can work at your own pace without having to worry if you are falling behind your class. Your teacher can't really slow down to accommodate individual students, but a private tutor can give you as much time as you need to fully comprehend areas you might be struggling in. Additionally, if your class is moving too slowly, your tutor can provide you with work that is more complex and beneficial for your skill level.
Contact your local Varsity Tutors educational directors today for more information on how we can help you connect with an analytical chemistry tutor and begin scheduling your first lesson. Our live learning platform enables you to meet with a private tutor either in person or face-to-face online. This gives you a great deal of freedom and flexibility because it allows you to pick the exact time and place you feel most comfortable studying. So whether you want to study outside in a park, at your favorite café, at the library, or even in your own home, a private tutor can meet you there.

Today we reviewed much of what we did yesterday. Today I utilized more videos and animations to better explain genetic cloning techniques and gel electrophoresis. I utilized a practice examination to better prepare him for his test tomorrow. Today we primarily focused on sex linked crosses and different terms like 'genetic engineering' 'genetic transformation' and 'recombinant DNA.'
We reviewed concepts in photosynthesis and cellular respiration. We focused on the details behind photosystems 1 and 2 and the Calvin cycle, and applied these ideas to completed questions in the back of the chapter of the textbook.
Today we worked though an entire lab report on genetic transformation. We began by addressing some of the conceptual topics that the lab covered then I pushed the student to remember what he did through the course of the lab and how his biology knowledge would help him understand the actions he performed in the lab.
We covered evidence for evolution and natural selection including biogeography, anatomical, and embryological evidences. The student's marking period grade improved by 7 points from last marking period.
We covered bacterial evolution in the context of the use of antibiotics. We reviewed two worksheets that the student previously completed. We also reviewed the structure/functions of the organelles found in Eukaryotic cells. We also discussed the process of central dogma. He asked a lot of good questions!
The student and I discussed genetics and bridged the gap from our earlier DNA chapter. We worked on Punnett squares, Mendel's laws, pedigrees, and how inheritance works in general. We also introduced evolution, but we will delve more in-depth next time.
