We reviewed some of the material for his test and went over basic algebra concepts. He does have problems over algebra in general, but he has improved his arithmetic by reducing his reliance on a calculator. I left him with extra practice after the session with problems that involved material I taught him during the period. We scheduled 2 more sessions and I plan to teach him a lot of what he has missed.

Today we covered the quadratic equation, factoring trinomials and solving for x when given a polynomial, and a little bit on simplifying radical expressions. The student was mostly struggling with little things such as remembering to add a minus sign, but overall learned the material very quickly. She was again eager to learn the material. I left her with 2 questions to work on the quadratic formula with. We also used some simplifying methods from the last session which she remembered how to do well which means she is making good progress.

We reviewed some materials from our last session and covered new material such as working with linear equations and finding parallel and perpendicular lines. We will keep practicing to really understand the factoring problems so the student can feel comfortable with anything that is given to her.
