FYI: The system lets me check 1 time slot per day. I have more availability. I have a background in teaching and communication, and I enjoy helping students move from feeling stuck or unsure to feeling clear and confident. Over the years, I've found that many students don't struggle because they can't learn the material, but because it hasn't been explained in a way that works for them. I work with students to break things down into clear, manageable steps and help them build confidence as they go. I'm especially strong at helping students organize their thoughts, express ideas clearly, and feel more comfortable working through challenging material. Many students don't need more informationthey need someone to help them make sense of what they already have. My style is patient and practical, and I work with each student at their pace. My goal is simple: that each session leaves them with more understanding and a little more confidence to keep going.

Something that has always interested me is that you can find math in all sorts of unexpected places. Math can help us to explain lots of relationships in subjects ranging from chemistry and biology to the humanities and even music! I think it's really important to be able to see these relationships and to understand the mathematics that govern them. If you're ready to nerd out about numbers, I'm ready to be your guide!I hold degrees in mathematics and music from Truman State University and Bowling Green State University.

I attended the University of Toledo, where I studied in the master's program in Physics and Astronomy and studied water vapor clouds in the Martian atmosphere, and then at Purdue University, where I studied in the Doctoral program in the Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences, working on Computational Geophysics and whole earth mantle convection, with a particular study of the uplift history of the Tibetan Plateau. I have worked as a geophysicist professionally in the oil and gas industry. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about Physics in general, Thermodynamics specifically, and Geology. I am a firm proponent of education, believing it to be critically necessary for an improved quality of life, and I try to impart this appreciation to all my students. In my experience, helping struggling students gain skills builds the necessary confidence to succeed in further studies, and then to carry that success into other areas of life. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, tai chi, baking and cooking, and taking nature walks whenever possible.

I am a passionate educator with a track record of helping students of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities find success. I have a BS in Secondary English Education with a minor in Technical Writing, and I've used this training to teach traditional English, literature, and drama classrooms in 6th, 7th, 8th, 10th, and 11th grades. I use the skills from my minor to break down information in a manageable way; after all, technical writing is all about providing clear, helpful instructions! In 2021, I received my MA in English with a graduate certificate in the theory and practice of teaching college writing. I use this degree to teach English 1101 and English 1102 at a community college in Georgia. I teach traditional and non-traditional students, including many high school juniors and seniors who are dually-enrolled. I specifically enjoy working with writers who lost opportunities to build foundational knowledge due to the COVID lockdowns and digital learning. I also have experience working with English Language Learners and individuals with special needs. I currently work full time as the Director of Programs and Education at a live performance theatre. This job allows me to teach literacy through drama to individuals between the ages of 5 and 100. As a teacher and tutor, my goal is to analyze the learning styles of my students and use the analysis to find ways of meeting them where they are. From there, we'll get them to wherever they want to be and beyond.

I believe all students can learn at a high rate given sufficient time and sufficient support.I have taught High School Physics and High School Chemistry for 10 years at a variety of levels. I have found that when students can make connections to real world topics they are much more likely to understand the content in chemistry and physics.I honestly believe that students need a variety of ways to internalize information. For the chemistry course I taught to ESL students, I made podcasts for them with each of the objectives I needed for them to acquire and encouraged them to view these video podcasts to increase their understanding of the content. During classroom time, I would spend the majority of the time making connections to real world situations. These video podcasts were uploaded to a you tube channel fore easy access.
