My name is Anna, and I am very excited to assist you in your mathematics studies! I worked as a mathematics student tutor in college, assisting my peers in College Algebra through Ordinary Differential Equations. I thoroughly enjoy helping others solve challenging math equations, and I especially enjoy watching students grow in confidence of themselves as mathematicians.

I received my B.A. in Philosophy and Theology (with a minor in Literature) and my M.A. in Theology from Ave Maria University, and I am working towards my Ph.D. in Systematic Theology from Duquesne University. While focusing on the humanities in my college education, I have always had a secret love for math. In addition to my tutoring experience, I have also worked as a private tutor for homeschooling children. Although I am capable of tutoring a variety of subjects, I am especially adept at Geometry, Algebra I, and Algebra II. My teaching philosophy rests on the conviction that students should be trained how to think critically on their own and how to approach problems rather than merely being fed information by their teachers/tutors. I work diligently to ensure that my students' academic capabilities are consistently increasing. My hobbies include chess, drinking coffee, reading, and listening to music.

I recently graduated with an M.A. in Classics from the University of Kentucky, where I studied Latin, Attic Greek, and Biblical Hebrew. I will begin studies for a Ph.D. in Classics in August, 2026. I have three years of mixed experience teaching Latin: one year at the middle and high school levels, and two years at the collegiate level, two semesters of which were online teaching. I believe that beauty is what motivates one to learn something, so in my teaching I like to draw students into the language they are studying by immersing them in the beauty of the culture and of the language. I like to use the immersion method (i.e., using the target language as the language of instruction), since this provides the student with maximum exposure to the language and gives the student the greatest command of the language. The immersion method is not opposed to the study of grammar, which is an essential element to language learning and an integral part of my teaching. This being said, my teaching style is flexible to match the various learning styles of students; I will work with each individual student to determine the best learning style. I like to keep my teaching light-hearted and interactive, which makes the experience less stressful and more enjoyable.

I've been a Writing Tutor for my university's tutoring center for the past three years. I began tutoring at the request of my Literature professor at the end of my freshman year of college. Due to my tutoring experience, I am an aspiring secondary educator of both English and Social Studies. Currently, I am studying Humanities and Liberal Studies with a minor in Literature. My area of expertise lies in English - language arts, literature, literary theory, linguistics, academic writing, and more!I am an animal lover, avid thrift shopper, and a lover of books and poetry. I absolutely love how writing is the perfect medium for the communication of human thought and emotion, so I make it my mission to help enrich my students' written works so that his or her thoughts are stated clearly, concisely, and completely.

I am a dedicated and engaging writing and humanities tutor with over 4 years of experience. I study and work at Ave Maria University (AMU), where I am finishing my master's in theology (2025). In undergrad at AMU, I double-majored in philosophy and theology, focusing especially on the thought of Aristotle and Aquinas. I tutor philosophy, theology, and general writing composition for all subjects, including literature, history, and politics. I enjoy helping students dive into their readings and write comprehensive papers. Many students say they seek me before other tutors because they understand my teaching style best. I always try to connect the subject material to their daily lives so that the old ideas suddenly become fresh and relevant! I am always eager to go above and beyond for my tutees. My favorite part about tutoring is seeing students' eyes light up when they finally understand. Nothing is more rewarding than helping others see the beauty I find in these subjects!
