- I recently graduated with an M.A. in Classics from the University of Kentucky, where I studied Latin, Attic Greek, and Biblical Hebrew.
About Me
I will begin studies for a Ph.D. in Classics in August, 2026. I have three years of mixed experience teaching Latin: one year at the middle and high school levels, and two years at the collegiate level, two semesters of which were online teaching. I believe that beauty is what motivates one to learn something, so in my teaching I like to draw students into the language they are studying by immersing them in the beauty of the culture and of the language. I like to use the immersion method (i.e., using the target language as the language of instruction), since this provides the student with maximum exposure to the language and gives the student the greatest command of the language. The immersion method is not opposed to the study of grammar, which is an essential element to language learning and an integral part of my teaching. This being said, my teaching style is flexible to match the various learning styles of students; I will work with each individual student to determine the best learning style. I like to keep my teaching light-hearted and interactive, which makes the experience less stressful and more enjoyable.
Hobbies & Interests
Aside from my interests in Latin, Greek, Hebrew, and other languages and academic pursuits, I greatly enjoy hiking and playing sports, especially soccer.
