I have over eighteen years of experience teaching young adults and managing groups from diverse backgrounds. I currently teach the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program Language and Lit courses in the international private school setting. I have taught AP lang and lit in the past. Some of my personal interests that I incorporate into teaching: creative writing, podcasts, art, music and debate. My passion for education started in the outdoor, experiential and adventure education field. I enjoy long-distance running, cycling and solo traveling.

I have a master's degree from Spalding University in creative writing for children and young adults. I have been a substitute teacher and online teacher for the last few years, teaching a wide range of students and subjects, but my favorite is always reading and writing. Talking about contemporary authors like John Green, classic novels like TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD, or literary heroes like Shakespeare never feels like work! It makes me incredibly sad to hear a student say that they hate reading. To me that means they aren't reading the right books. My goal is to make reading enjoyable for every student, because reading leads to better writing, comprehension, and a fuller education in all aspects of life.
I am a currently an alternative certification graduate student at Spalding University pursuing a Masters Degree in Teaching Students with Learning Behavior Disorders. I am gaining experience as an ECE teacher at Seneca High School specializing in Algebra 2. Before pursuing my teaching career, I received my Bachelor's Degree in Family, Youth and Community Sciences at the University of Florida. While in college I worked as rock climbing, challenge course, and sailing instructor. After graduating I became a Youth Care Worker at a group home/behavioral management facility.
My fervent interest in Science and compassion for people and community earned me a Medical degree in 2010. I have since had the opportunity to use my skills and education helping people in the Accident and Emergency department as a Junior Physician. Currently, I am preparing to take my United States Medical Licensing Examinations. I also hold a Bachelor's of Science in Biology, which I obtained from Spalding University in Louisville, Kentucky.Throughout my years in college and medical school, I have always enjoyed helping my peers and juniors to understand new and difficult topics. I enjoy finding fun and efficient ways of teaching those concepts and it brings me a great deal of satisfaction when they master it. One such way is associating what is being taught to a real world scenario. When we make a connection between the real world and academics, we better appreciate and understand the material being covered.When I am not busy getting up to date with my medical knowledge, I enjoy playing with my 15 month old son. It's a joy to see him learn and do something different every day. Of course I also leave time for exercise, watching comedies, and watching professional basketball.I look forward to tutoring Sciences such as, Anatomy, Physiology, and Pharmacology. They are all interesting, rewarding subjects, and we will have fun along the way.
