I graduated from Rutgers University with a BA in history and a minor in biology. What I really wanted to do was teach though, so after exhausting multiple options, I decided to bite the bullet and get my Masters in Education at Seton Hall. They ranged from high school students to the mayor of the city of Comrat and included Russian, Romanian, Turkish, Ukrainian, Bulgarian and Gagauz speakers. I also taught English classes to kids on Saturdays at a local gym and at a local language school. In addition, I taught an English for Business class to local business owners and local government employees. My grant ended abruptly due to Covid-19 and I am now back in New York City. While I tutor and love a broad range of subjects, I would say I am most passionate about Math, World History, and Foreign Languages. My counter to that is that I have been given a profound opportunity to complete high quality graduate work in both my Masters and Ph.D. programs, while simultaneously helping to prepare our future teachers. Having worked as a Graduate Assistant in the Educational Studies department at SHU, particularly more recently in the Office of Field Placement, I am immersed in an environment that puts pedagogy, reflective practice and the science of teaching at the forefront. Having taught US History II, Honors US II and AP US History in this course, relaying the passion for a sound historical perspective was often a challenge. Teaching basic facts was not my goal from the onset, but rather to give students the practical use of history in many disciplines.My fianc' is also a teacher, specifically 4th Grade Special Education. Her experiences, anecdotes and obstacles everyday reflect how rewarding our profession can be. As stated before, seeing the complete cycle from when children are gaining their love of learning through their higher education experiences as adults is perhaps my greatest asset as a potential tutor. A strategy that works one day, for one student may not be as easily implemented the next with a different student. That is part of the challenge and reward of teaching/tutoring, building the knowledge and experiential base to take these challenges in stride with an eye toward continuous improvement.

I am a graduate of Rutgers University, double-majoring in History and Political Science and minoring in Art History. As an undergraduate student at Rutgers, I completed Education courses and also had the privilege of conducting field research at local elementary schools for the Early Childhood Literacy Development program. After college, I received my Juris Doctor from Seton Hall Univ. School of Law and have studied law in Italy at the Universities of Milan, Parma and Genova-Nervi. Shortly after graduating from law school and becoming a practicing attorney, I started my own solo practice. I enjoy teaching History, Law and Government, and the Tagalog(Filipino) language. Having a solo practice allows me to have a flexible schedule and teach on my free time, which not only is my true passion but it also allows me to give back to the community and interact with people.

I am a dedicated Middle School Educator with over 5 years of teaching experience. I obtained a Bachelors of Science in Secondary Special Education and History from Seton Hall University, as well as a Masters of Science in Teacher Leadership from Central Connecticut State University. I have have extensive experience teaching full classrooms of children, as well as tutoring students individually. I have worked with students with a wide range of abilities, including students with ADHD, Dyslexia, Intellectual Disabilities, Emotional Disabilities, Reading Disabilities, etc. While my official certification is in Special Education and History, I have tutored students from grade 3 to grade 12 in subjects related to reading, writing and literature. My philosophy is that building strong relationships with my students is the foundation on which learning and progress can flourish.
