This letter is to introduce myself and acknowledge my interest in tutoring. I am a first year graduate student at Seton Hall University working towards my Ph.D. at Counseling Psychology. I have got my Bachelors of Science in Pre-medicine and Psychology and my Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I aspire to be a professor once I get my doctorate because teaching has always been a passion along with continuing clinical work and research.I graduated with a Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Syracuse University in Dec, 2016. During my time there, I have worked with faculty members in teaching masters level course (Psychopathology), organizing conferences, presenting on topic of interest and mentoring incoming masters students. Through these experiences I have gained leadership, organization and teaching skills that will highly coincide with the job requirements. I am well aware of the dedication, effort, creativity and commitment required for becoming a tutor. My teaching and mentor style is to empower students. I believe the act of teaching is creative and fluid where the teacher has to mold their teaching style according to the student's requirements and learning style. I am a firm believer that every person have their own unique learning style and it can be highly beneficial for the student if they feel supported and safe to take risks and build confidence in the subject matter they are struggling in.I am proficient in grade and high school level reading, writing, math, algebra, statistics. Geometry and Biology. As these topics can be challenging and concepts hard to grasp, I like to use creative, fun ways to relate them to real life problems to make better meaning of it.Outside of school and research, I like to hike with my puppy, read and paint.I appreciate your time to review my credentials and experience. Thank you for your consideration.

I graduated from Rutgers University with a BA in history and a minor in biology. What I really wanted to do was teach though, so after exhausting multiple options, I decided to bite the bullet and get my Masters in Education at Seton Hall. I love learning, and want all students to feel the way about education as I do- curiosity is an infectious condition! I am currently looking into pursuing my doctorate in education as well. There is a special place in my heart for history...don't you love seeing the cause and effect relationship of events across time and space?! However, science and math are right up there, too. I love the logic of math (I am an avid puzzle person), and I love how science just explains, well, EVERYTHING. Its amazing! I can also dabble in English because my mother is an English teacher and I have had grammar, editing and revising drilled into me for a very long time. My tutoring style lends itself to being more student directed. I will let the content that needs to be addressed dictate how we meet, and then I like to scaffold the concepts from there so that the student can really understand the content. I do not believe in just showing you something- I want you to understand the "why" behind it, too. I want everyone to succeed at what they are shooting for, be it academics itself, or whatever the next step is for that individual. We all deserve an opportunity to pursue our dreams, and a successful education that someone is personally invested in is an important part of that process.

I moved to New Jersey where I went to school and taught for them while they paid my tuition for grad school along with a small stipend. I lived in Jersey for a year and a half and then moved to Brooklyn, NY. I lived there for another year and a half. I missed MN and decided to move back in 2005. I have taught students from 12 to 60 years of age, different cultures, skills and backgrounds; in all areas of English, reading and especially writing. I am passionate and get to know my students. That is partially why I am successful in helping them to achieve their goals and go beyond expectations! Tutoring and teaching is a noble profession and I take pride in being an educator. I am currently attending Seton Hall University, and I expect to have a B.S. in Mathematics and in Computer Science in 2018. Since September 2013, I have worked privately with students, mainly for Calculus, but later on German. Several students have come to me over the years for help, and I have provided them with the utmost quality possible. I focus mainly on understanding fundamentals and developing a fluency in mathematics, computer science, German, and Italian. In order to understand complex ideas, one must often break it down into simpler ideas. It is within these simpler ideas that a clear understanding must be made. Often times in the realm of problem solving, many solutions are possible. I encourage the employment of many different methods for one problem, because we all think differently. Additionally, I have many different certificates in many different subjects. My favorite subject that I received multiple certificates in is Linear Algebra. The most entertaining course for only one certificate was data analytics. I enjoy helping other students succeed because in part, it makes me succeed, not only as a tutor, but also as a human being. To add, I tutor German, Italian, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Computer Science and Calculus I. My favorite subject to tutor is Calculus, due to the fact that it has a fearsome reputation for students. Calculus, just like many other difficult problems, can be easily split into easier problems that are more manageable. Whenever I'm not working or studying, I enjoy going to the gym, learning new things, and doing martial arts. I have a certificate of completion of Phase A in Krav Maga.I find that Math is everywhere. Therefore, in order to understand our surroundings, it is imperative that we understand this field, regardless of how daunting it may seem. Thus, my teaching philosophy focuses on understanding fundamentals, rather than memorization. It is my objective that you understand the concepts more deeply, rather than repeating some meaningless formula back to me.

I hail from the small town of Lambertville, NJ, and have a BA in Political Science from Rutgers University and a BA in Diplomacy & International Relations from Seton Hall University. My passions lie in English, History, and teaching in general. I believe the quest for knowledge and understanding is paramount to living a better life.Based on my teaching experiences, I have developed a teaching philosophy that gives the students the room they need to create and take ownership of their studies. My goal is to foster independence in every student and allow these students to thrive individually and when working with others in group settings. My methods have been developed through my own experiences in the classroom and through observation of effective educators.I believe that a strong focus should be placed on reading comprehension and comparative analysis, for I firmly believe that students will understand the subject matter better and have a stronger sense for context of what they are studying if it is relayed to them in the proper framework. I want students to be able to explain the events instead of merely reading and repeating what is in their textbooks.I would describe my teaching style as very communicative, calm, and friendly, all while achieving great results from my students.

Kind-hearted, friendly, fair and professional tutor. I am a college senior at Seton Hall University, passionate about making helping students get better in math and physics. Communication and active listening are two of my greatest skills because they allow me to understand the student's needs. I find that the best way is usually to first figure out what areas are most difficult, take time explain them, help the student solve an example problem and finally let them solve another problem on their own. Education is a passion of mine and so creating a safe, friendly and productive environment for my students to learn is a top priority. So far, I have successfully tutored many students in math and physics, who have all walked away with better grades and a deeper understanding. I have some free time off, due to my classes being online, and am able to customize my tutoring sessions according to my students' learning needs and availability. I started off by tutoring middle school students in math and science, but through college and medical school I have grown in my skills and now tutor in many different subjects. After taking multiple standardized exams: SAT, MCAT, STEP 1 USMLE, and Step 2 USMLE Board exam and passing them I am very comfortable to say I will help you surpass your standardized test score goal and help in your organization skills as well. Given that I am in medical school my strong suits are math and sciences. In college, I have taken Calc and Statistics, and I have also taken a full year of Physics. I am a native New Yorker and a dual citizen of the US and Spain. I am a recent graduate from the School of Diplomacy and International Relations at Seton Hall University. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in May 2019 with a triple major in Diplomacy and International Relations, Modern Languages (French and Russian), and Economics with a minor and certificate in Russian and Eastern European Studies. At Seton Hall, I was a Teaching Assistant for both Elementary and Intermediate Russian and I also tutored several students in French and Spanish. In July 2019, I was selected as a Fulbright Scholar to Moldova and attended orientation. In September 2019, I flew to Moldova and began my Fulbright journey. During my time in Moldova, I was an English and Spanish professor at a university called Comrat State University. The students in my classes were very diverse in terms of ages and languages. They ranged from high school students to the mayor of the city of Comrat and included Russian, Romanian, Turkish, Ukrainian, Bulgarian and Gagauz speakers. I also taught English classes to kids on Saturdays at a local gym and at a local language school. In addition, I taught an English for Business class to local business owners and local government employees. My grant ended abruptly due to Covid-19 and I am now back in New York City. While I tutor and love a broad range of subjects, I would say I am most passionate about Math, World History, and Foreign Languages. I speak Spanish, French, Russian and some basic Romanian and Turkish and I hope to become fluent in as many languages as I can. I especially love Foreign Languages because every new language means more people you can talk to, more friends you can make, and even more music you can listen to. I am a firm believer that learning should be fun and global and I try to teach that to all my students. In my spare time, I love cooking new recipes in the kitchen, going out with friends, traveling, swimming, playing chess, and listening to music.

As a member of the College of Education at Seton Hall University for the entirety of my higher education career, generally there is some skepticism as to why I would stay in one place for such a significant amount of time. My counter to that is that I have been given a profound opportunity to complete high quality graduate work in both my Masters and Ph.D. programs, while simultaneously helping to prepare our future teachers. Having worked as a Graduate Assistant in the Educational Studies department at SHU, particularly more recently in the Office of Field Placement, I am immersed in an environment that puts pedagogy, reflective practice and the science of teaching at the forefront. Placing interns and student teachers into surrounding communities, as well as serving as a substitute teacher myself allows me to view the complete spectrum of instructional practice K-16, and I relish all opportunities to improve myself as a learner and instructor. My teaching experience spans across a number of years and settings. My formal training was in Secondary Education, with a concentration in History which is still my first love. As a manager of the Seton Hall University baseball team, I aided in the athletic and academic support of student athletes, primarily in improving writing skills that are necessary for high quality academic work. That particular point in my life marked a time of great transition. Initially, my plan was to play baseball at Seton Hall, but an unfortunate injury to my throwing wrist put the athletic aspirations on hold and allowed me to fully explore my academic potential. I try to emphasize how important going through that adversity was to students of all ages, because you will not reach your fullest potential until challenges are presented and overcome.Understanding the unique learning styles of individuals, coupled with tending to their hectic schedule during the season gave me a set of skills applicable to all ages. My current role in the College of Education furthers my ability to work with students who are currently working toward their degree in Elementary or Secondary Education and their preparation for classroom practice and successful completion of their PRAXIS II (Certification) exam. Given the current climate of high stakes testing and emphasis on teacher quality, standards for passing these exams have been raised to reflect these new demands, presenting challenges to students/faculty members and administrators. I believe my best quality is having a feel for a student's greatest strength, and leveraging that unique talent to improve upon areas that may not be as strong.More formally, my Student Teaching experience at West Orange High School in West Orange, NJ in 2009 allowed me the opportunity to work in a culturally diverse school, employing techniques learned in the classroom in a new setting. Having taught US History II, Honors US II and AP US History in this course, relaying the passion for a sound historical perspective was often a challenge. Teaching basic facts was not my goal from the onset, but rather to give students the practical use of history in many disciplines. My fianc' is also a teacher, specifically 4th Grade Special Education. Her experiences, anecdotes and obstacles everyday reflect how rewarding our profession can be. As stated before, seeing the complete cycle from when children are gaining their love of learning through their higher education experiences as adults is perhaps my greatest asset as a potential tutor. A strategy that works one day, for one student may not be as easily implemented the next with a different student. That is part of the challenge and reward of teaching/tutoring, building the knowledge and experiential base to take these challenges in stride with an eye toward continuous improvement.
