I received my Bachelor's Degree in Childhood Education 1-6 with a Mathematics Concentration from Niagara University. I also received a minor in Sign Language. I continued my education at Niagara to achieve my Master's Degree in Special Education 7-12. I have been teaching in a classroom for 3 years but have been working in a classroom atmosphere since 2012. My favorite subject to tutor is math. I really enjoy Sign Language and continue to teach it to my current students. I believe that students should have a hands on learning experience and want to be motivated. Tutoring sessions should be more student-led so that they are getting the experience necessary to achieve the grades they want to.

I like to keep things fun, upbeat, and interesting. No one likes to struggle through material that they don't understand and don't find interesting. I like to help students personally connect to the information they're learning, as well as understand real world use for that information. Patience is key to being a good tutor, and I strive to always be patient and understanding with a student who is struggling. I am extremely passionate about the Spanish language, as well as Psychology, and I hope to pass some of that passion on to my students, as well!

My philosophy of education centers around actively engaging students in higher level thinking activities, content-based discussions, and interactive learning. I am currently a Doctoral student (EDD) at Nova Southeastern University. I have worked within the Broward County Public School District for over nine years starting as a classroom teacher and eventually being promoted to curriculum specialist and remediation coach in reading and mathematics. I have also been heavily involved in after-school tutoring programs. I served as a site coordinator for the 21st Century Community Learning Centers Program and SES tutoring program, which offered students supplementary academic remediation and enrichment activities after the regular school day. I trained and supervised the tutors of these after-school tutoring camps in all subject areas and curriculum. I am a certified Clinical Education Instructor, which is a mentoring and training program that promotes a methodical system of screening, conferencing, and developing new teachers to attain successful instructional strategies in the classroom. I also have my Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership providing me with credentials to be a school administrator. I believe that my experience and knowledge of specific teaching methodologies and strategies has provided me with the tools to help any student achieve academic gains and a motivation for learning.

Through the studies and skills obtained in college and continuing professional development seminars and classes, I have become proficient in classroom management, collaboration, increasing community involvement, integrating technology and focusing on increased parental involvement. By working in a consumer friendly industry for the past five years and through substitute teaching, I have become proficient in communication with faculty, administration, students and parents, and thus distinguishing me from many others. Communication is the key to effective classroom management and students becoming life-long learners. I am able to apply knowledge from the many clubs and student-center activities I have been involved in over the past years to allow my students to instill a sense of worth and thus striving for success.Also, my intense technology background has allowed technology to become an asset in my classrooms, allowing students to see and relate real life experiences to classroom knowledge. With technology expanding and becoming a necessity to the development of well rounded students, I feel as though I will allow my students to rise above and succeed beyond by incorporating technology on a daily basis.

I am a senior at Niagara University. In 2018, I will graduate with my bachelors degree in mathematics education. I have been a tutor for the last three years and absolutely love what I do! I have worked with students ranging from 1st graders to 12th graders. I love the feeling of assisting my students in success and I enjoy the new things my students help me learn in return every day!
