Hello! My name is Francisco J Ronquillo. I was born in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico, but was raised along the border in southern New Mexico; therefore, I am blessed to be bilingual and bicultural.

I have always enjoyed helping others learn. Some of my earliest memories are helping my friends with something I already knew, and the amazing feeling I got when I saw they had learned it. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Foreign Language at New Mexico State University, where I studied linguistics and Spanish. Once I graduated I moved to Dallas, where I started teaching bilingual elementary school. I also went back to college myself, and got my Masters of Educational Administration from the University of North Texas. As a teacher, I have worked with children in grades 2 through 6, in all subject levels, who are both bilingual English/Spanish and monolingual English speakers. I also taught ESL classes for adults through an Adult Basic Education program. As a teacher I have provided small group and individual tutoring in reading, writing, and math, and I have also tutored my classmates in my college classes when they asked as a favor. I absolutely love reading, and I love teaching reading so I can pass that passion on to my students. I also love working with older students who are improving their reading, because I thoroughly enjoy discussing literature with others. It is satisfying to dig through a text and find every hidden gem, and it is even better to do that with someone who is feeling that joy for the first time themselves. When preparing for standardized testing, I like to play games with the content and find ways to make it as fun as possible. I genuinely believe that education is one of the most important things in life, providing humanity the driving force to improve and solve problems. I am incredibly proud that I am a part of this process, and that my students will grow to pass on their own knowledge to others in a never-ending chain. In my spare time, I enjoy reading science fiction and fantasy novels, cooking, playing games (both board games and video games), and modifying my car.

I am a 4th Grade teacher in Columbus, OH. I have been a teacher for 8 years and have also taught 6th Grade Social Studies. I have lived in Ohio for 2 years, having lived in New Mexico my whole life. I am very interested in history and geography so moving to an area with such rich history is a treat for me! I am spending my free time making trips to new historic sites and museums.I truly believe every child can and will learn. It is my job as the educator to find out the best way that student learns and then capitalize on it. I graduated with a Bachelor's of Science in Biology with High Honors from New Mexico State University. Before that, I graduated from high school with a class rank of 3 out of 656 students. I have always been a strong student who loves to learn and help others learn. I have been tutoring my peers, siblings, and neighbors my whole life. My tutoring style is very adaptable; I change it based on each individual's specific needs. I like to get to know everyone and use metaphors about things they enjoy to help relate subjects to them. I am a graduate of New Mexico State University. I received my PhD Degree with a focus on Engineering and Math. Since graduation, I have traveled extensively, tutoring students of different ages and different academic levels looking to improve their Engineering and Math knowledge.. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about Engineering, Calculus, Trigonometry, Geometry, Linear Algebra and Algebra. I am a graduate of New Mexico State University, with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics. My studies there included extensive physics and computer science coursework as well.While in college, I tutored many fellow students, which is how I got my start with tutoring. Since then I have tutored all ages of students, both in-person and online, in many math, science, and computer coding subjects. My tutoring style is interactive. For any student whom I teach, the goal is always that the student is able to work the problems and explain the steps. As professors of mine said when I was in school, "Math is not a spectator sport", and "You can't do physics without a calculator in your hand". When I teach, the student does as much of the work as he or she can; if stuck on something I will provide hints as needed, and I will only take over and complete a problem as a last resort.My personal learning style emphasizes understanding over repetition, although I am very aware that this is not true for everyone - many students require substantial repetition in order to gain confidence and mastery.Most of my spare time recently has been directed towards the development of a mathematically-oriented computer game, which I hope to publish within a year or two. In addition to game development, I also enjoy hiking, biking, camping, and playing chess.

I guide them to "question everything," even me. I highlight as much my own questions as answers, encouraging them to do the same, in hopes to demonstrate that the latter cannot exist without the former, and that each holds equal value. I select readings and design assignments that will resonate with my students current lives; to really learn, after all, we first must be interested. Student buy-in is imperative, and there are many, many ways to learn the necessary skills to succeed in our age of innovation. Typically these skills boil down to the four Cs--critical thinking, collaboration, communication, and creative problem solving.The best teaching is relevant, and endures. My students are challenged to learn about themselves and their responsibilities; it is not just the content, but how the student succeeded or struggled, and what they took away, that matters.
