At Carleton, I played Varsity Soccer, hosted a radio show, and served as an economics prefect/TA for introductory microeconomics classes. In this role, I both held classroom sessions and tutored students individually. It was rewarding to see the results of my efforts and the impact I could have on other students. I am at an expert level in many math and economics areas. The key to my process is helping you not just 'get the answer' but also understanding the process of how to get there. My name is Madeline and I'm currently a PhD student in microbiology! I love teaching and making concepts "click." I've worked in biology labs for many years so have great experience to make concepts applicable to the real world. Science should be fun and rewarding, and I do my best to make it so!

I am a graduate of Carleton College in Northfield Minnesota, and received my Bachelor's degree in History with minors in Educational Studies and Public Policy. I have eight years of experience volunteering and working with children and students from ages three to fifteen. These experiences range from teaching swimming lessons, volunteering in preschool and elementary school classrooms, working as a summer camp counselor, a volunteer tutor with middle school students, and teaching a historical research course to eighth graders for two academic school years.While I tutor in a variety of areas, I especially love tutoring in writing skills, as I enjoy helping students develop their individual voice and find their strengths in writing. I believe that education is necessary for all children, as it helps inspire a lifetime of learning. I believe everyone can be successful in school, and love helping students discover their individual learning styles and help them develop successful study methods that work well for them. While I am not tutoring, I enjoy swimming, spending time outdoors hiking or skiing, knitting, baking, and reading. I especially love reading historical fiction!

I am a sophomore, English and Computer Science double major at Carleton College who is ecstatic about teaching and spreading my love of learning. I am also greatly interested in sociology and gender studies, and have yet to decide if I will minor in one of those fields, too. My favorite areas to tutor are those having to do with English; I enjoy everything from AP Literature to essay writing for class. Hi, I'm Emma! I'm a rising senior Classics major at Carleton College in Northfield, MN. I study Latin, Ancient Greek, and the histories associated with the two languages. Outside of class, I'm an RA, and I spend 6-8 hours a week tutoring and teaching college access courses in a nearby high school. In the future, I hope to teach high school Latin!

I just finished my 3rd year working as a School Psychologist for a metro area school district. I am excited to tutor students of all ages in a variety of academic and test prep areas. I was raised in the U.S. and am a native English speaker with a diverse educational background. I attended preschool through 11th grade in the U.S. and received my high school (international baccalaureate) diploma from an international boarding school in Hong Kong. During college, I studied Mandarin Chinese and Korean. I completed 6 months of study abroad in South Korea. I have extensive 1:1 tutoring experience. In college, I worked as a teacher and private tutor for Korean high school students applying for US colleges. As a graduate student, I served as a reading interventionist for K-4th graders for 2 years. I have previous test prep experience as an ACT class teacher and private tutor for a national company. My most recent tutoring experience was for a high school junior in Minneapolis. We worked on homework completion, mostly for the student's Beginner Mandarin class.

I have always been very passionate about learning. Growing up hiking and exploring, my fascination with the natural world was at the forefront of my educational goals. I was always curious about the mixed deciduous forest in my backyard or the rock quarries my friends and I went to on school breaks. I guess it makes sense then that I went on to study geology and biochemistry at Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota. While my desire to engage with the natural world persists, this past fall I began an MD/PhD program at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska to achieve my dream of becoming a physician-scientist. With a rich history of working as a tutor and mentor for students from a variety of backgrounds, I am incredibly excited to dedicate myself to helping students amidst one of the greatest public health crises of our time. I have worked with students at both ends of the academic spectrum on not only traditional classroom subjects but also in a 'future preparation and planning' context. I am passionate about finding the best way for a student to learn and often times that encourages me to get outside of my comfort zone and re-imagine the problems in a way my student can best understand them. I am a doctoral student in theater history at Yale University currently living in Boston. I also hold a B.A. with honors in English Literature. I offer tutoring in elementary and middle school math, English literature, and reading comprehension; I can also offer particular expertise in writing.I am a published critic and scholar, and I currently work as an editorial assistant and proofreader. I also love teaching writing. I have worked for three years in writing intensive courses at the undergraduate and graduate level, and have also helped lead writing workshops for middle and high school students. I enjoy working with students from a wide variety of age levels and educational backgrounds.While the rules governing grammar, usage, and essay construction may appear challenging for many, I believe that, with effort and guidance, anyone can learn to write well. When working with students, I do all I can do demystify the process of learning a subject, working with them to uncover its inner logic and obtain the tools and knowledge they need to succeed as students.Finally, I think that learning is fun.
