I am currently a student at the University of Texas at Arlington working towards my Masters in Linguistics, which I intend to use to continue teaching English language at a private or public school. I am also employed as a reading comprehension and vocabulary teacher at the Nepali Cultural Center in Irving. I have traveled to 15 countries including Lebanon and the Czech Republic, and I love reading, coffee, shopping, tech gadgets, creative writing, and singing karaoke in my spare time.

I am strongly committed to bringing students to mastery. To accomplish this, I thought it was important that I am trained and educated extensively in this field. This is why I have obtained not only a Bachelor's degree in education, but I have obtained a Master's degree as well. Even with the most thorough training, mastering academics cannot be achieved without creating a welcoming space for learning friends.

I'm currently working towards my undergraduate degree in Mathematics while pursuing the pre-medicine track. After school, I plan to become a practicing physician in a non-surgical specialty--likely anesthesiology or radiology. I've previously worked with students from elementary to high school age on subjects in math, writing, and science. I also have teaching experience in speech-related coursework, music theory, and percussion and drum set performance.

I am a believer in the active learning model of education. Students can memorize as much as they wish, but learning requires that teachers find some way of allowing the student to apply what they have learned. In some subjects this is easier to achieve than in others, but in any interaction with a student, I try to make sure that the learning is as engaging and active as possible.

I am a student at Texas State University in San Marcos, TX working toward dual undergraduate degrees. I'm an undergraduate at UH-Clear Lake working on a B.S. in Mathematical Sciences. I've tutored for about two years now, including a year working at San Jacinto College's Math Center. It was a great experience because it was very busy and I got the chance to help dozens of students every day. However, I enjoy one-on-one tutoring the most because there is less pressure to help as many people as possible. Instead, I can focus on a single student for the entire session.
