About Me

I am Dakota and I am from Ohio. I graduated from the University of Akron with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Doctorate of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in the Biomechanics of biofibers from Tunghai University in Taiwan. Yes, I lived in Taiwan for eight years and loved it! I am currently a post-doctoral research fellow at Chapman University. I love studying biology and have also helped students learn English while living abroad. I have been tutoring and teaching for about seven years, but watching students light up when they are excited to learn something new never gets old to me. I believe every student's learning experience is unique and I tailor how I teach to accomodate this. My favourite strategy is helping students find ways in which the subject they are learning applies to their own life in one way or another. I look forward to meeting, tutoring and providing guidance to all students that give me the honour of being their teacher!
