About Me

I am originally from sunny South Florida. I earned my bachelor's degree in English in Miami and my master's degree in education in Fort Lauderdale. I have spent the last 14 years teaching, tutoring and trainings students of all ages from early childhood education through college and adult learners. While I currently teach English, Language Arts and Reading, I am also proficient in teaching English to Speakers of other Languages (ESL / ESOL), Literature, essay writing and education courses to novice teachers. My favorite subject to tutor is anything that encourages reading comprehension and fluency. I love this subject because I enjoy helping my students achieve success in reading comprehension skills; as these skills are integral in everything we do. My teaching philosophy is that every student deserves a quality education and that if provided with the right tools, each student has the potential to be successful. My teaching style is the integration of patience, knowledge of my subject matter, empathy to my students' learning style and the desire to see my students succeed. My favorite hobbies include reading. While I can get into any good book, Stephen King novels are my favorite! I also enjoy exercising. Running, playing tennis, swimming and anything that works up a good sweat are my favorite activities! I look forward to being your tutor!
