I have always had an interest in creative writing and the ability to use words to express so much feeling and compassion towards others and the world around me. I received my Bachelor's Degree in Psychology at Kent State University where I concentrated mainly on Developmental Psychology on courses such as Child Psychopathology, Child Psychology, Adolescent Psychology and Abnormal Psychology. With this, I could gain knowledge on working with children and being able to identify behavior issues and interventions. I have always inspired to be a teacher and have held volunteer work experience placements as a tutor within the community. Before entering Graduate school at Youngstown State University, I was fortunate enough to work with adults with disabilities as a part time Support Professional. I have found myself inspired by the challenge of working with individuals with disabilities and often realized their potential and this furthered my decision and commitment to become a teacher in Special Education. Since then, I have worked with Autistic children during summer camps as well as an Instructional Reading Tutor as part of YSU. My specific courses at YSU were Introduction to Exceptionalities, Planning and Programming for Transitions, Characteristics and Behaviors, Behavior Management for Educators, Assessment for Gifted and Exceptional Children and Introduction to Educational Research. I am a highly motivated individual that sets out to achieve attainable goals and be adaptive in new environments. I maintain a positive and constructive attitude towards job detail and adequate education. I have a passion and dedication in helping promote and protect the human rights of individuals with or without intellectual and developmental disabilities while increasing awareness and involving the community in the lives of those who may have exceptional needs.
