About Me

Although new to Varsity Tutors, I spent the last year at a tutoring center, specializing in English and History. A favorite with the students, I work with you to identify a goal: a higher score on the SAT reading section, persuasive essays, elegant written communication. Together, we create a plan for success. Along the way, I act as both the coach and cheerleader. I believe in celebrating those small victories the right verb tense, the corrected clause error, the artfully placing the semi-colon. I use storytelling and metaphor to make difficult concepts relatable, and my background in theater and performance keeps students engaged. My strongest subjects include the English, Reading, and Essay portions of the ACT and SAT; the AP US and World History, and English Literature and Language tests; essays and research papers; and basic language and grammar acquisition. I recently moved to Portland from the SF Bay Area, and I am using this year to enjoy the sights and sounds of the city as I pursue my teaching credential. I am an accomplished home cook I wish I could list cooking lessons on my profile! My sport of choice is Overwatch. And I'm a feline fanatic. I hope to hear from you soon!
