Maslow, with his theory of the hierarchy of needs, believes that all basic needs for humanity is necessary. I truly believe that a child can become successful if their basic needs are met, and most importantly, their self-esteem is not compromised. Self-esteem issues can cause distractions and become issues beyond repair. As a future teacher, I want to boost my student's self-confidence and accomplish this by becoming their cheerleader. This does not mean that I would never point out areas where they can improve, but instead, I can relay the message in a tactful way by giving them the reassurance they need.
