About Me

I graduated from South Bank University in London, England in 1994 with a B.Ed in Education and Teaching at elementary level. My main subject is English, reading and writing but I will also tutor math. I believe in making learning fun and always plan activities and games that are of interest to the student and keeps their attention. I have a love of books that I always aim to pass on to the student through reading a variety of different texts. I am cheerful, enthusiastic and committed. I convey this into my teaching by creating positive relationships through communication, trust and respect with students and parents. I thoroughly enjoy teaching and remain totally committed as it gives me fulfillment and a sense I am making a different in a student's life.

Q&A with Victoria

First, always find texts that interest them and they can relate to. Then take the reading back a level so they become very confident with an easier level, and then move forward in small steps, using lots of encouragement and praise. What strategies have you found to be most successful when you start to work with a student? "Breaking the ice" activities so the student feels comfortable and is able to work to their full ability. I always show how encouraging I am through looking through their past work and talking about some of the positive content.
