About Me

As an experienced educator, trainer, and facilitator, I have spent most of my career in higher education, working and teaching at universities across the country and region. As a National Merit Finalist, I learned to excel at standardized tests, and enjoy imparting strategies to help students "defeat" the test. My approach to test prep focuses not only on content, but on understanding how to maximize returns on tests by focusing on strengths, creating small victories to reduce anxiety, knowing when to guess and when to omit an answer, and understanding context clues. I have an extensive background in etymology and Latin and can help students learn to decipher unfamiliar words. With regards to writing, I am equally comfortable emphasizing essay composition techniques to enable excellence in timed-writing scenarios, or guiding students to develop their own unique voice as a writer. The subjects that I enjoy digging into the most are english and history. I firmly believe in the interconnectedness of everything, and find that in understanding the past, and how writers chose to express their reality, we gain invaluable understanding of our self and our modern world. I love to find points of connection to emphasize the relevance of material to modern students - there are few better feelings than watching a student "get it" and to have played a part in that breakthrough.
