About Me

I am an English teacher who instructs students at the secondary level in English 9 as well as ENGL 1101 and 1102 at the college level. I graduated in 2011 from Kennesaw State University with a Master of Arts degree in Writing. Additionally, I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in English Education from Western Carolina University in 2008. I have taught first-year seminar courses as well as learning support English courses at Kennesaw State University; I advised students there for four years after graduation. I teach students who are new to high school and familiarize them with the writing process, and I work with them in reading comprehension, literary analysis, and advanced vocabulary. I am a college adjunct instructor as well and enjoy guiding those students toward becoming academic writers prepared for that specific discourse community. Those courses also focus on rhetoric and writing in all college disciplines. I prefer to tutor students who struggle with writing, and I enjoy seeing the improvement in my students. As a high school teacher, I am familiar with the requirements of the ACT and have experience working with students to improve their scores on the verbal and writing portions of the exam. Education is not just an abstract idea that I believe enhances personal experience and perspective, but it is also my passion and career. When I am not teaching, I enjoy hiking, traveling, and reading.
