I am a graduate of the University of Connecticut with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, the City University of New York, Hunter College with a Master of Arts in Chemistry Education and the University of Illinois at Chicago with a Master in Business Administration, concentrating in Finance, Marketing and International Business. As my education may indicate I love to learn and I have a passion for education. I worked in the pharmaceutical / chemical industry for over 10 years with companies like Abbott, Bristol Myers Squibb and Pfizer. However, my passion for education led me to leave the pharmaceutical industry and pursue teaching. I am a certified Chemistry teacher in New York State and New Hampshire. I have taught Chemistry, Physics and Introductory Organic Chemistry in New York City at 2 different schools including Brooklyn Technical High School (one of the city’s top public institutions). I have a passion for Chemistry that shows when I am teaching, I love challenges and love to inspire interest in Science in other people. I served 4 years in the United States Navy on the flight deck of an aircraft carrier and have traveled to every continent with the exception of Antarctica. I have lived in New York, Chicago, Philadelphia and Boston. One thing my diverse experiences have taught me is how to approach concepts and ideas from many different directions. I helping others to understand in a way that makes sense to them personally, rather than trying the one size fits all approach to learning. I believe once you understand a concept you comprehend it in the same manner as others but the way different people get to that understanding is not always the same.
