I am an International Studies and South Asian Studies student at Emory University, but I'm starting to wonder if I should have been an Education major! I recognize that each individual has a different learning style, and, as a result, I've learned to be flexible and personalize my teaching methods for each and every student. I want my students to be interested in the material, so I like to bring educational games and videos into my teaching. My clients are always expected to be actively engaged during a session, so I will never talk at a student or give away answers. The idea is to cultivate a discussion that encourages the pupil to think critically. Most importantly, I believe that every student needs a comprehensive, cohesive support system. I make sure to communicate with my pupils' parents and teachers so that each of us can better understand the student's needs.
