About Me

Hello! My name is Stephanie Allen, and I have been tutoring students of all grades - from Kindergarten through college for many years, in a variety of subjects ranging from the Humanities to Mathematics and the Sciences. I consider myself a lifelong learner with a passion for education, and I relish being able to help others in their educational endeavors. My approach to tutoring revolves around my belief that everyone has their own approach to learning; as a tutor, it's vital that I respect how the students I work with process and retain information, and help them recognize and utilize their strengths to empower them, which in turn augments their academic abilities. I have tutored students in a variety of subjects including English literature, grammar, and composition; History; Cultural Anthropology; Philosophy and Ethics; Basic Mathematics; Algebra; Biology; Anatomy and Physiology; Spanish. I've also tutored students on research methods and academic writing styles (MLA, APA, etc.).A little about me - I hold three college degrees: I have an A.A. in Psychology, a B.A. in English Literature, and a M.A. in English with concentrations in Writing, Teaching, and Criticism. Besides literature, I also have academic interests in Philosophy, History, Mythology, Spanish language, Art, and the sciences. Culturally, I enjoy attending lectures, the symphony, the opera, visiting art museums. I also enjoy volunteering for charitable organizations.
