My career in education began with a heartfelt commitment to special education, where I learned the profound impact of tailored teaching and the importance of meeting each student at their level. This early experience shaped my approach to education, emphasizing the need for understanding and adapting to the unique learning styles and challenges of each student. In my seven years of educational experience, I have dedicated myself to math and reading intervention, employing science-based metrics to assess and enhance student learning. This journey started in Fayette County Public Schools, where I worked closely with students who needed extra support, and has continued through my various roles, including as an intervention instructor and a classroom teacher. My approach to tutoring is deeply rooted in data-driven strategies. I utilize evidence-based methods to track progress and adjust teaching techniques, ensuring that each session is not just informative but transformative. This scientific approach to learning, combined with my passion for special education, enables me to create a learning environment where every student can thrive. Holding a Bachelor's Degree in Arts with minors in History, Learning and Developmental Disabilities, and Curriculum Design from Simon Fraser University, I've always believed in the power of a well-rounded education. This belief is reflected in my tutoring sessions, where I blend rigorous academic standards with compassionate, student-centered teaching. In conclusion, my pedagogical philosophy is rooted in the conviction that at the heart of effective learning are strong, nurturing relationships. I believe that establishing a safe and caring environment can empower students to take educational risks, explore new concepts, and stretch their abilities. This approach has been the cornerstone of my career, guiding my interactions with each student. By prioritizing connection and understanding, I aim not only to educate but also to inspire confidence and a love for learning. It's this commitment to relationship-centered teaching that I eagerly bring to my role at Varsity Tutors, and I look forward to creating meaningful and impactful learning experiences for each student.

I'm a coterminal master's student at Stanford University in California majoring in Computer Science (Biocomputation). Throughout high school and college, I've taken many courses in computer science, the life sciences (biology and chemistry), and math; and I've been through a lot of standardized tests. For computer science in particular, I have a lot of experience writing software in Python and C++ for AI and systems classes, and I'll be interning as a software engineer at Facebook this summer. I got a lot of great tips and mentorship from tutors along the way, and would love to pass along what I know!
I am a graduate of the University of Kentucky with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and a minor in Art Studio. I am currently working toward my Masters of Arts in Game Development at the Savannah College of Art and Design. I am deeply passionate about helping students unleash their full potential. Witnessing the "aha" moments when they grasp a challenging concept is very rewarding. I tutor a range of subjects from computer science principles and programming languages (C, C++, Java, etc.) to game development in Unity and 3D art in various software.
I'm eager to teach students how to make connections and understand any part of the world they need!
I am currently a rising senior at the University of Kentucky. I am working towards my Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in math and neuroscience. I have been tutoring students from elementary to high school for four years in math. I enjoy working with students, of course to provide academic support, but also to build an environment that encourages them to think outside the box and feel comfortable in doing so. I do tutor high school chemistry, but my primary focus is on various levels of math. From my experience, teaching mathematical concepts can be challenging without being able to adapt to the strengths of weaknesses of every individual. I believe it is crucial that students are given an opportunity to learn that adheres to their individual characteristics. Aside from academia, I enjoy staying physically active, volunteering throughout my community, and being a huge sports fanatic.
I am 22 years old and just graduated from the University of Kentucky with a double degree in French and Biochemistry. I have been a tutor for over a year now at UK's tutoring center. I believe that anyone can learn anything with enough practice and encouragement, and I love helping students overcome challenges and gain more self-confidence!
I am a graduate of UofL with a BS degree in Biochemistry and minor in Biology, heading to medical school at UVA this fall. I have spent 5 semesters as a teaching assistant for the Chemistry Department, spending three semesters teaching general chemistry and two semesters teaching organic chemistry. I have also spent a year as a small-group tutor, helping individual students through tough chemistry topics. While I have a strong background in biology, I am most passionate about tutoring chemistry I love its order, set in rules and mathematics. Outside of academics, I spend my time outdoors, bouldering, or playing couch co-op video games.
I am pursuing a B.S. degree in Neuroscience at the University of Kentucky that I will successfully complete in the Fall of 2020. I have tutored a wide range of students, both my peers and younger, in mostly STEM related fields. Although I tutor in a few different subjects, the subjects I am most passionate about are College level Biology, Organic Chemistry, and Biochemistry. Learning about a difficult topic may seem challenging at times, but I believe that everyone has the ability and motivation to successfully tackle difficult concepts with some help!
I am an energetic, positive, 26-year-old teacher who graduated with my MFA from the University of Notre Dame in 2017. I am currently teaching Second Grade, but have extensive and varied teaching experience, having taught students of all ages, even university level! I also have experience working with students with behavior and learning differences. It is my goal to make all of my students feel encouraged, heard, motivated, and successful.
I am medical student attending the University of Kentucky. My experience tutoring has both informal and formal components. Informally, I have tutored fellow students in classes that we share. Formally, I teach an organic chemistry recitation at UK. Subjects that I tutor are organic chemistry, mathematics, and biology. I do not have a favorite subject to tutor because I find there to be something very interesting about each subject. My philosophy to teaching is to look at it with the perspective of an enjoyable intellectual conversation. Learning is life-long so let us find the enjoyment in learning. My hobbies outside of academia include listening to music, cooking, and badminton.
I am a graduate of Rice University with prior teaching and tutoring experience focusing on middle school/high school math. I have been working with Varsity Tutors since 2017 and tutoring in math since I was in High School. I enjoy tutoring as a means of imparting knowledge on to others and find no better feeling than when a student is able to fully comprehend a concept and replicate that knowledge on their own.
I am currently studying International business at Tamkang University in Taipei, Taiwan. I have studied Chinese for 1.5 years. I am able to speak on a conversational level. To be more specific, I have tested TOCFL level 3/B1. I am a TEFL certified English teacher. I have spent the past 3 years traveling the world and teaching English/tutoring basic math and science. My students range from teaching English to basic/advanced adults in Greece, private tutoring the children of a very wealthy family in Beijing, private clients in Taiwan, to clients online as well as teaching at a school in Taiwan. I truly love teaching and tutoring. I believe it is a very rewarding experience. There are times when students don't understand what they are learning, this is inevitable; but the moment that the student grasps the concept is very rewarding. At that moment I know that I am actually helping this student and they are grasping the content. This is my favorite part of teaching.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, Varsity Tutors connects students in Georgetown with expert tutors across all grade levels and subjects. With 19 schools and over 9,400 students in the Georgetown area, we work with families throughout the community to provide personalized 1-on-1 instruction tailored to each student's needs and learning style.
Georgetown students typically seek help in core subjects like math, English, and science, as well as test preparation for the ACT and SAT. We also work with students on Kentucky-specific assessments and standards, helping them succeed in courses aligned with state curriculum requirements. Whether a student needs foundational skill-building or advanced academic support, tutors can customize instruction to match Georgetown school standards and individual learning goals.
The first session is focused on understanding your student's academic strengths, challenges, and goals. The tutor will assess current skill levels, discuss what's working and what isn't in the classroom, and develop a personalized plan for ongoing instruction. This foundation ensures every session after that is purposeful and directly addresses your student's needs.
Georgetown's public schools maintain an average student-teacher ratio of about 15.8:1, which means classroom teachers are managing instruction for many students with varying needs simultaneously. Personalized 1-on-1 tutoring removes that constraint—tutors focus entirely on one student, adapt pacing to their learning speed, and address specific knowledge gaps without the pressure of keeping up with a full class. This focused attention is especially powerful for students who learn differently or need to fill foundational gaps before moving forward.
Tutoring costs vary based on the subject, tutor expertise, and frequency of sessions. We work with families to find flexible scheduling and pricing options that fit their budget. Many Georgetown families start with 1-2 sessions per week and adjust based on their student's progress and academic needs.
Absolutely. Tutors working with Georgetown students are familiar with Kentucky's academic standards and can align instruction with what students are learning in their school district. Whether your student needs support with state assessments, grade-level standards in math and literacy, or preparation for advanced courses, tutors can ensure instruction directly supports what's expected in Kentucky classrooms.
Falling behind often happens when a student misses a key concept and can't fully engage with new material built on that foundation. Personalized tutoring identifies exactly where the gap is, reteaches that concept in a way that clicks for your student, and then builds forward from there. Many Georgetown students see noticeable improvement within 4-6 weeks of consistent, focused instruction tailored to their learning style.
