I am a junior studying Writing for Screen and Television at the University of Southern California's School of Cinematic Arts. For the past two spring semesters I worked as a CollegeSpring Mentor, tutoring Green Dot Charter high school juniors for the SAT and teaching them predatory skills for college. In addition to my experience tutoring for the SAT, as a screenwriting major I most enjoy teaching my favorite subject, English. I love showing students the power language endows upon them to communicate their ideas and beliefs with others. I believe every student deserves the chance to succeed and to try to capitalize on their strengths while encouraging them to improve in areas they may traditionally find challenging. Endowing a student with confidence in themselves through patience and support is the best way not only to improve academic performance, but also transform them into lifelong learners. I try to share not only my passion for knowledge with students, but also my love of sports (football, baseball, and softball), action films, and global affairs. Seeing students not only improve academically but also show improved confidence and happiness is the most rewarding part of my job.

I am a recent graduate of New York University's Tisch School of the Arts where I received my B.F.A. in Drama with a minor in Applied Theatre. During my time at NYU, I studied at the Atlantic Acting School and the Experimental Theatre Wing, sang in a choir called Drama Cantorum, and co-founded a nationally-ranked improv team called Captain Soldier. I also spent an unforgettable semester abroad at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa. Nowadays, I work with a theatre company called Grey Room NYC and a non-profit organization called Leave Out Violence. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, playing and watching basketball (Go Bulls!), enjoying funny television shows (Louie is my favorite), and playing music (guitar & piano).

I am most passionate about English, History, Math, and the SAT. I am fascinated by the SAT. I love teaching struggling test takers how to view the SAT as an approachable, accessible set of riddles and games instead of as an intellectual brick wall. I firmly believe that the majority of people can find great joy in academics once they discover the individual approach that works for them. I see it as my job to help them find that path. In my free time, I enjoy hiking, rock climbing, running, travel, and reading. I am also a section editor for the Los Angeles Review of Books and the literary manager for two theater companies based in New York and Los Angeles.

I am a recent graduate of Harvard University, where I received my Bachelor of Arts in English Literature with an emphasis on screenwriting. Although I love literature and writing, I am most passionate about tutoring math. I have five years of experience as a math tutor, during which time I helped students ages 3-17 with math ranging from basic arithmetic to pre-calculus. My favorite math topic is algebra, particularly because of its usefulness in solving real-world word problems. In addition to mathematics, I find joy in teaching/elucidating Shakespeare to high-school students. As a classically trained actor, I find it fun to tackle Shakespeare’s dense texts from a performance and character-driven perspective. In my spare time, I enjoy vegan baking and roller-blading.

Frequently Asked Questions

Score improvement depends on your starting point and study commitment, but most students see meaningful gains with personalized instruction focused on their weak areas. Many students improve by 5-10 points or more when working with a tutor who identifies specific patterns in their mistakes—whether that's timing issues on Logic Games, inference problems in Reading Comprehension, or logical reasoning gaps. The key is targeted practice combined with strategy refinement rather than just taking more practice tests.

Your first session focuses on understanding your current strengths and challenges. A tutor will typically review your recent practice test scores, discuss which sections feel most difficult, and identify patterns in your mistakes. This diagnostic approach helps create a personalized study plan tailored to your specific needs—whether you need to build foundational logic skills, improve reading speed, or master time management across all three sections.

Timing is one of the most common LSAT challenges, and tutors help by teaching strategic approaches for each section. For Logic Games, this might mean learning which games to tackle first based on difficulty; for Reading Comprehension, it's about efficient note-taking and question prioritization; for Logical Reasoning, it's recognizing question types quickly. Working with a tutor helps you practice these strategies under timed conditions and develop the confidence to make smart decisions about when to move on.

This is extremely common—many students excel at Logical Reasoning but struggle with Logic Games, or vice versa. Personalized tutoring lets you focus intensive work on your weakest section while maintaining your strengths. A tutor can diagnose whether your Logic Games challenge is conceptual (not understanding game types) or strategic (understanding but running out of time), then build a targeted plan to address the root cause rather than just drilling more problems.

Practice tests are essential for LSAT success—they build stamina for the 3-hour exam, reveal your actual timing patterns, and show which question types consistently trip you up. However, taking practice tests without analyzing mistakes is inefficient. Tutors help you extract maximum value by reviewing every wrong answer, understanding why you missed it, and identifying whether the issue is conceptual understanding, careless mistakes, or time pressure. This analysis-focused approach turns practice tests into your best learning tool.

Absolutely. Test anxiety often stems from uncertainty about your abilities or unfamiliarity with the test format—both things tutoring directly addresses. By working through challenging problems, seeing improvement over time, and practicing under realistic timed conditions, you build genuine confidence in your skills. Tutors can also teach specific strategies for managing pressure during the actual test, like pacing techniques and mental reset tactics between sections.

Most students benefit from 2-4 months of focused preparation, though this varies based on your starting score and target score. Students aiming for top law schools often study longer and more intensively. A tutor can help you create a realistic timeline based on diagnostic testing, identifying how many weeks you need to master each section and when you should take your official test. Regular tutoring sessions keep you accountable and help you adjust your plan if you're not progressing as expected.

Look for tutors with strong LSAT scores (typically 170+), law school experience, and proven success teaching other students. Beyond credentials, you want someone who understands your specific challenges and can explain concepts clearly—not just someone who got a high score themselves. Varsity Tutors connects you with expert tutors who have deep knowledge of LSAT strategy, can diagnose your weak areas quickly, and tailor their teaching to your learning style.
