My personal goals and desires are ultimately continue to grow professionally within the field of education / special education. As an educator I believe in life long learning and as a result I strive for growth in all that I do. Ultimately I would like to work for the state and own an educational facility for students with special needs. I anticipate that on my journey with Varsity Tutors I will attain a plethora of knowledge that I can apply across the field of education, to foster growth in the students I encounter now and in the future.

In 2016 I received my M.P.H degree in Global Environmental Health at Emory University and in 2014 I received my B.A. degree in Community Health at Brown University. Currently, I am working as a program manager at a local non-profit organization in Miami. Outside of academia and work my interests are singing karaoke with friends, swimming, watching movies, and reading about environmental and social justice issues. In the past I have tutored public health topics (including epidemiology) online, taught environmental science and history courses, and tutored students in-person on ACT prep, biology, voice lessons, and Spanish language. My clients have been middle school, high school, university, and graduate students. My favorite subjects to tutor are those that I myself had to work the hardest to conquer (ACT, Spanish fluency, epidemiology and chemistry)! I love teaching these subjects because through my own struggle to achievement I have developed especially effective methods for my clients to succeed as well. I recently graduated from Emory University, and I am going to medical school at Columbia University in the fall. I worked as a TA and tutor in college for biology and music courses, and I also have experience preparing students for standardized tests. My approach to tutoring is not to simply teach the material, but also to give my students the tools and strategies they need to teach themselves. Since everyone learns differently, I adjust my teaching style to match how each of my students learn, and I enjoy the challenge of coming up with new ways to explain concepts and problems.

I am a graduate of Indiana University with a B.S. degree in Elementary Education. I also have a M.Ed from the University of Georgia in Educational Administration and Policy. I grew up in Indiana, and moved to Georgia about six years ago. I enjoy running, playing guitar, and watching sports. I have taught fifth and sixth grades, and have helped tutor students from third to fifth grade. I enjoy working with students, and differentiating instruction to meet their specific interests and educational needs. Through my studies, I have worked with both middle and high school students, including a student teaching internship in Quito, Ecuador this past spring. As a graduate of Grady School of Radiology, I have obtained knowledge and experience with both patients and positioning on various exams. As a Clinical Instructor, I help students in the clinic understand the best techniques in acquiring the best images as soon as possible with the lowest dosages. This involves assessing the student's comfort levels with patients and exams and adapting my approach for each student, as each student has a different learning style. As a student I was often stressed. It is not easy managing classroom and clinic and studying whenever possible along with balancing work and family life.
