I am a graduate student in Mechanical Engineering department in UCI. I love teaching. I hope the time that I teach in Varsity tutors will help students learn and improve in their study. Also, I will gain valuable experience in teaching.

I have experience with Computer Science from a student, professional, and teaching perspective. I understand what it feels like when you are completely stuck on a problem or concept, so when teaching I use scaffolding to break concepts down into manageable parts. I have experience teaching Computer Science to a classroom of 20 high school students from different socioeconomic backgrounds. This included daily lectures, mentoring, and one on one tutoring/debugging, among other responsibilities. I also gained experience tutoring college students during my time as an undergraduate. I emphasize understanding the concepts behind a problem, not just getting the assignment working, and use real world examples to allow the student to understand through their own perspective!

I am a student working towards my degree at Boston College. I am majoring in Political Science and Philosophy with a minor in Leadership and Management. During my freshman year, I spent 10-12 hours a week tutoring students in public housing in a wide range of subjects. While I can tutor many different subjects, I am best with Math and English because of the amount of experience I have tutoring in these areas. I also have a particular interest in standardized tests such as the SAT and would want to tutor in that as well. I particularly have an interest in tutoring the SAT Math section, as that is something many students have difficulty with and is important for advancing academically. My tutoring philosophy focuses on personal relationship and a focus on understanding of concepts rather than just focusing on answering a particular question correctly. In my spare time, I enjoy reading about politics and current events, working out, and playing or watching sports like football and basketball.

I hold a bachelor's and master's degree in Statistics, and I have worked in a variety of roles at big companies as a data analyst, and statistician. My goal is to provide students with top quality tutoring by being attentive to their needs, and working as a team towards finding solutions. My teaching philosophy is to identify and strengthen areas of weakness, and encourage dedication to learning math because I firmly believe anyone can learn math! My hobbies are running, writing short stories, maintaining my blog and reading.

I am passionate about learning new languages and helping others do the same. I'm a native English and Mandarin Chinese speaker, and have worked in Shanghai for about 5 years before moving back to San Francisco recently. I've tutored mainly middle/high-school students in Chinese or ESL in the home or at summer camps, but I would also love to work with adults or much younger children. It's never too early to start!I hold a bachelor of science in economics and bachelor or arts in comparative area studies from Duke University, with a minor in Chinese.I also studied pastry arts at The French Culinary Institute, so In my leisure time, I enjoy baking for friends and family, along with traveling, food photography, and hiking.I look forward to working with you!

I am currently attending California Institute of the Arts. I am studying art, as well as theatre and art management. Eventually, I hope to attend grad school for library science. My favorite subject to tutor in is math. I believe in life-long education, and I hope to impart that to the students I meet. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, crocheting, sewing, and hiking.

I like science, interacting with people and helping them to achieve their goals. Therefore, teaching science is an ideal occupation for me.I am an honest, straightforward and caring person. I do get results because I invest efforts and care in each and every student.

I strongly believe there is no time in our lives where we quit being students. Learning comes from all modes of life, through experiences of grit and triumph, as well as managing failures. And I'm not just referring to tests. As a current college student, I've come a long way from a hopeless high school student with no ambitions or goals. Five elementary schools, two middle schools, and three high schools later I finally took note on something that I passionately believe needs amending. And that's how we view learning. My goal in teaching isn't just to help students learn the material needed to pass some qualifying tests. It's for them to really understand the importance and depth behind the piece of literature or equation being chewed. It's more than a question. I teach with a desire to implement a realization of that depth of origin within the work at hand and within the student themselves. To me, the most important aspect of teaching is for the student to realize what it is they are not only good at, but enjoy. It's within that joy, that a passion is ignited that fuels a student on their way to success. Whatever success may mean in your terms. Success in my terms, is to help others like and unlike me to move away from the stress of the fragmented allusion of how we view learning, and put them on a forward motion to trust themselves and never stop trying. I guess that's why essay's are so fun, because they mean, to try.

I am a recent graduate of Boston University's Sargent College of Health and Rehabilitation. I received a Bachelor of Science in Human Physiology, with an early focus on Neuroscience and Behavior, and I will be attending Medical School in the fall. I am most looking forward to tutoring in English/Literature/Writing, and Biology/Anatomy, as these are the areas that I excelled at most throughout my own education. Education is something that can never be taken from you, and as such I think it's an incredibly valuable opportunity and investment. In my spare time, I like to read, dance, knit and sew.
