My Master of Arts degree in English is from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, and my Master of Fine Arts degree in Poetry and Creative Writing is from Southern Illinois University Carbondale. I love teaching and working with students, and helping them to better understand a multitude of subjects. I have been tutoring and teaching for 20 years, and have loved helping students find their academic voice and succeed in writing papers, studying, memorizing historical facts, and analyzing important information. As a tutor and teacher, it is always my goal to present material as clearly as possible and, whenever possible, have students think out for themselves what the problem at hand is and what possible solutions are. My whole life I've enjoyed math and science but what I am really passionate about is teaching others. I have 9 years of University level teaching experience in Chemistry, Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry. I love tutoring people because it helps keep key concepts fresh in my head. Not everything you learn in school will be used, but some of it will be! And you don't know which parts until much much later. I focus on imparting understanding to my students. I am an enthusiastic tutor, always striving to help students master their course content and ultimately be successful in their coursework while enjoying the learning process; beyond that, I emphasize to my students the importance of the critical thinking and logical reasoning skills obtained from the study of mathematics, as well as the many applications of math and the inherent beauty of the subject.
