Redmond GMAT Verbal Tutoring FAQ
The business world is certainly more complex than any set of equations that might be tested on the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) Quantitative section. While such mathematical knowledge is a critical part of the metrics used to assess your abilities as a potential business school applicant, you must not overlook the importance of the GMAT's Verbal section, which will help provide details regarding your ability to comprehend, utilize, and evaluate expressions and communications made in the English language. Just as much as the other sections of the exam, the Verbal section of the GMAT requires preparation and careful attention in order to excel. Contact Varsity Tutors today to be connected with an excellent GMAT Verbal section tutor to guide your preparations for this important part of the exam.
Much of your undergraduate schooling has perhaps dealt with matters more directly related to the management of businesses and the intricacies of economics. It has also likely covered mathematical models used for considering the complex affairs and trends of the world of national and international business. While you have likely taken a number of humanities courses, these perhaps were not your direct focus during the years of rigorous study and professional development that are prerequisite for business school applicants. It is easy to be deceived into thinking that regular use of the English language provides enough preparation for the Verbal section of the GMAT exam. Do not be so deceived, however! A careful course of preparation must be undertaken, and a personal tutor can provide such a course by directing you in accordance with your unique skills and weaknesses.
The GMAT Verbal section will require you to master a number of critical skills in reading and reasoning, as well as to critique the styles and expressions used in a number of passages presented for your evaluation. All of these skills require a keen and developed sense for linguistic and literary evaluation -- skills that come only with practice. GMAT Verbal tutoring can provide you with a guide who has earned stellar scores on this section of the GMAT. They can evaluate your particular background -- the abilities that you have (and have not) gained through your years of study and work -- and produce a focused program of verbal study that best uses your limited time. Instead of wasting your time doing unnecessary review work or sitting through a class that does not directly address your individual problems and needs, invest in personal GMAT Verbal tutoring, which can provide efficient and targeted guidance to help you best utilize your preparation time.
There's a lot of work to be done, and it may seem you don't have the time to get ready. Your tutor can be as flexible as need be, and can schedule custom-tailored lessons around your classes and work. They can meet in the comfort of your own home, or a library, and face-to-face online using Varsity Tutors live learning platform, if an in-person lesson is inconvenient for whatever reason. The perks include a thorough evaluation of your skills and consistent assessments during the process of ongoing one-on-one sessions. Your tutor will show you everything that helped them score well, so you can do just as well, or better.
Given the fierce competition for entry into the best business schools, you need to perform superlatively on the GMAT in order to provide your application evaluators with an impressive metric regarding your suitability for graduate-level studies. Don't waste your time in an unfocused program of preparation for this important test. Contact Varsity Tutors today about your one-on-one GMAT Verbal tutoring options, and find the perfect independent personal tutor to address your needs for the Verbal section of this exam!

Recent Redmond GMAT Verbal Tutoring Session Notes
This is the first and only session that I worked with the student. He is going to attend the GMAT test next Wednesday, so we reviewed and went over some CR, SC, and RC problems. He mentioned that he got mid to upper 30's on verbal but would like to get 40+ and he needs the most help on CR and SC. I tried to explain why he missed problems and let him get a better understanding. Moreover, I gave him some notes, tips and practice questions to enhance his skill. He definitely made some progress.
The student and I went over the any incorrect answers from his GMAT verbal diagnostic test, and I gave him a number of critical reasoning practice questions. I also explained some strategies for the verbal section of the test.
Today we worked on Reading Comprehension. We went through how to make a map of the passage, which the student thought was really helpful. Then we did about four passages where we created passage maps and compared our maps and then did the questions one by one, talking through each one.
Today we looked at overview of the exam verbal section. This included a general discussion of techniques and strategies for approaching the problems as well as going through samples in the various topic areas, including parallelism, comparisons, and verb agreement.
We focused on introductions and expectations, then moved into general test taking strategy for the exam and spent the remainder of the time walking through sentence correction problems which the student previously had trouble with. I then created schedule for the week to prepare for next weeks' session.
The student and I went over Sentence Correction and Reading Comprehension questions from the guide for the GMAT. Similarly to our previous session, we identified ways to use process of elimination to select the best answer for each question. As he had mentioned before, the student found the political passages to be easier and the biological passages to be more difficult. I helped him note keywords in the questions that matched keywords in the passages to lead to the correct answers. The student is progressing well and is on his way to improving his scores.
We plan to meet this Wednesday to go over Data Sufficiency questions and again next Saturday to review Critical Reasoning and additional Sentence Correction questions.
