Certified Tutor

I am a tutor with an extensive background in both STEM and the humanities. I have my bachelor's degrees in both Mathematics and Computer Science and Film Studies from Emory University, and I am now pursuing my master's degree in Film and Media Studies at Georgia State University. I have tutored math and English professionally for many years, and currently work teaching high school level math.

I have always enjoyed teaching because I love seeing my students achieve their personal academic goals. Whether it's preparing for an important test, catching up in a class, or working ahead in a subject, I do my best to support each student's unique needs. My favorite subjects to teach are math and physics as I find them fascinating, and I enjoy sharing that excitement in discussions with my students. In my lessons, I emphasize establishing a deep conceptual understanding of topics rather than simply memorizing formulas, as I believe strong critical thinking and problem solving skills are a crucial foundation for students' future success, both academic and beyond.

Outside of teaching, I enjoy following MLB baseball, practicing analog photography, reading science fiction and fantasy, and playing video games and board games. I especially enjoy when I am able to connect a lesson to one of my or my students many interests, as it helps make ideas more concrete and tangible, improves memory and retention, and generally makes learning more engaging and fun!
