Andrew: Santa Monica tutor

Certified Tutor

I hold a Master's degree in Economics from Eastern Illinois University and a Bachelor's in Sociology from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, I bring several years of experience in teaching as well as in real world business experience.
My approach is rooted in patience and engagement, aiming to create a supportive environment where students can thrive in subjects like statistics, economics, mathematics, and English.
I particularly excel in statistics, where I guide students through complex concepts using repetition and practical examples. However I also enjoy teaching pre-calculus, trigonometry, algebra II, geometry, algebra, and elementary school math.
My personal journey includes being the parent of a son who overcame some difficult challenges from ADHD. He's now a graduate student and he enjoys having a 'free' tutor. This has deepened my compassion and understanding for those with diverse learning needs.
Outside of tutoring, I enjoy writing fiction, playing guitar, mountain biking, high altitude mountaineering, and travel. All activities which enrich my teaching ability and connection with my students.
I have experience tutoring with Varsity Tutors, SuperProf, Study Point, and Mathnasium.
