I have always loved both learning and teaching. I have a Ph,D and a Masters in Spanish (from UMCP and NYU respectively) and a Master's and Bachelor's degree in Music from the Peabody Institute of the JHU. (I was originally a musician).

I have taught both Spanish and ESL in Spain, Taiwan, and the U.S. for over 25 years, including both adults and high school students.

I have a student-centered teaching philosophy, one which takes into account the particular learning style of the student and his/her personal interests. Students learn best when they are interested in a topic, so I make sure they are always working with a communicative exercise on a task which enables them to take learning into their own hands.

Throughout my career as a language teacher I have received excellent student evaluations and letters of thanks. Students always know that I really care about their progress.

Although I teach both ESL and Spanish I prefer teaching Spanish simply because I have spent more years teaching it.

In my free time I am an experienced and enthusiastic dancer of both salsa and bachata, and I dance these socially at least twice a week. I also like to read non-fiction.
