Certified Tutor
I am a graduate of Christopher Newport University where I attained my B.A. focusing on philosophy, English, and history. When not in classes, I tutored and assisted elementary students with homework and executive functioning skills. Currently, I am also working at an alternative private school as a substitute teacher and tutor for middle and high school students. I tutor a broad range of subjects, but I am most passionate about philosophy- but then again, what ISN'T philosophy? I love to encourage students to use their intellect, independence, and self-advocation to challenge and question the world around them (making them philosophers too!) Outside of traditional education, I also love working with students to figure out how to make their education work for their learning style by utilizing organizational skills, different learning modes, or simply building the trust necessary to facilitate real learning. I am a strong proponent that every student is capable of learning if given the proper tools- we just have to find those tools together.

When not in the classroom, I enjoy caring for my pets (two dumpy tree frogs, a red-eye tree frog, a gargoyle gecko, a bearded dragon, and a dog) and reading.
