I love teaching and tutoring, and I have a wealth of experience with both. I taught philosophy for 14 years at various universities: Rutgers, St. Louis University, the University of Missouri (Columbia and St. Louis campuses), and Washington University in St. Louis. I am in the midst of a mid-life career switch, transitioning from an academic in the humanities to an MD. I took the MCAT in September of 2019, earning a 511, with a perfect score on the Critical Analysis and Reasoning (CARS) section of that test. I have applied to medical school and expect to matriculate in 2020. I am currently teaching a course I designed on the CARS section of the MCAT, "Critical Analysis and Reasoning for Premed Students", in the Honors College at the University of Missouri-Columbia. This background qualifies me to teach quite a wide variety of subjects, so as your tutor I can offer the advantage of one-stop shopping. I have tutored college and high school students in various subjects under the auspices of University Tutor and Wyzant. I am passionate about boosting your grades and test scores and helping you become an independent learner. I live in Columbia, MO, with my husband and two children, who are very tolerant of my workaholism. I have recently had the immense pleasure of helping my 14 year old son with his high school writing assignments. Right now my only real recreation is spending time and traveling with my family, plus some yoga and cooking, but when life settles down a bit I will get back to my avocation, modern dance.
