I am a graduate of Oregon State University. I received my Bachelor of Arts in English with a focus on Disability studies, American and British literature, Shakespeare, Greek and Roman texts, and Non-Fiction. I have my substitute teaching licence from the State of Nevada. I also won the Oregon State University's 2018 College of Liberal Arts Outstanding Senior award. At university, I also completed 300 level Spanish and accomplished a large amount of course work in Fine Art. I also studied 19th and 20th century philosophy as well as environmental. I am currently applying to MED programs for English. I went to school for English because I wanted to teach and tutor students: as superior communication and writing skills are the key to success in college as well as in the future job market. I love to help students become the best writers and communicators they can be, so they can become and be successful adults and pursue their passions. I also love tutoring Art, Spanish, College entrance essay writing, and Philosophy for the same reasons as I enjoy opening new doors and opportunities for students by exploring their potential through these modes of exploration. As a tutor, I try to accommodate to each student's learning style and respect these individual differences in our tutoring sessions. I try to suit each tutoring session to the student's needs and goals that day while attempting to build long terms goals along with immediate needs. My experience tutoring students is with both native and non-native speakers of English. I have tutored students that are native speakers in literature and grammar, for whom literature and grammar is not their strength, to great improvement of their knowledge and skills. I tutored students to whom English is a foreign language, and I was able to help one student from Serbia obtain a job in the US and others to improve their grammar and conversational skills. Through tutoring on Varsity's platform I have been tutoring students long term in Spanish grammar and conversation to the great improvement of their language acquisition and grades in the classrooms whether it is in a high school or college setting. In my spare time, I enjoy knitting, reading for pleasure, ceramics, hiking, biking, Frisbee golf, watching movies, and practicing Spanish with others.
