I am currently a snowbird taking a leave from my studies at Cornell University to pursue an internship at a local dance studio, but honestly, I had to get away from the cold! Returning to Florida this past summer has been a dream that I didn't think could come true after several years of continual blizzards...
I excel at improving students' comprehension of math of any discipline: from counting to algebra to differential equations. Much of my experience in paid tutoring was for young children establishing a knowledge of mathematics (VPK on up to 4th grade). I have also taught SAT and ACT assessment skills, and watched test scores soar after a reassessment. If you are searching for a tutor for bridging a gap in understanding, or resolving confusion with how to reason through problems: I would love to have the opportunity to work with you or your child and help you make unique connections to what you're learning, regardless of the subject!
I grew up in Naples, Florida and at the age of 15, was given the incredible opportunity to enroll in college early at Florida Gulf Coast University after finishing 10th grade. The 2 years that I spent there contributed to further surprises of studying at Stanford University and my dream school: Cornell. Between my studies and my summers off, I volunteered with kids through the summer day-camp experience: Winshape Camps, and mentored new cohorts of students seeking dual enrollment at a university. I tutored math, reading, and writing to family and church friends who were beginning and continuing elementary school.
Above all of my favorite experiences working with toddlers, children, and classmates, my time as a Residential Advisor at Cornell has proven to me that working and teaching others is what I want to do with the rest of my life. Receiving the recognition of RA of the year proved to me that I had the qualifications to improve the lives of others, and make a lasting impact on my community.
My dream is a hazy image of a studio, where the sunlight streams through the windows onto dancers, practicing and learning under my tutelage, developing as artists, and as humans. To work as a professor at a University, teaching dance in a studio to children, teenagers, and students: nothing would fulfill me more than having my life be surrounded by learning. Every step I take in my endless journey of becoming a better educator, mentor, and friend is a flicker of joy that spurs me on towards realizing my dream.
