My tutoring strategies are tailored to what works best for you; I believe learning is collaborative. My education has been broad and I consider myself a lifelong learner. Intrinsic motivation is critical to learning; I help my students get excited about developing mastery over key concepts that will help them be successful in a variety of contexts.

Formal Education and Training:
I have a PhD in neuroscience from Vanderbilt University. I was trained and educated at the Yale School of Medicine, Vanderbilt University, Case Western Reserve University, and Hampshire College. My bachelor's degree is in liberal arts, specifically, Spanish language and literature and cognitive science. I also earned a graduate certificate in undergraduate education, which allowed me to get hands on practice and critiques of my teaching, as well as background in educational theory and the developmental psychology of learning. Finally, I have a background in adolescent development, and have worked with children and adolescents with autism; I am happy to accommodate and work with learners on the spectrum.

Tutoring Experience:
In the past, I have tutored adult English Language Learners in conversational English, as well as school-aged children in math and reading. I have taught undergraduate psychology and neuroscience, as well as scientific writing for English Language Learners at a local medical school. My favorite subjects to tutor are writing, psychology, and biology.

Tutoring Services:
I am comfortable teaching at the K-12 level in a wide array of topics, and can also provide tutoring for undergraduate and graduate level science courses, writing skill building, and psychology. I am conversational in Spanish and would enjoy teaching early to intermediate Spanish learners. If you are in need of test prep, I can provide tutoring for many standardized tests as well, with an emphasis on specific test-taking strategies to help you reach your score goals. I have extensive experience in expository writing, including technical scientific writing, and am happy to tutor anyone who could need some additional help writing at the high school, undergraduate, or graduate level.
