Certified Tutor
I have MS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Akron, Ohio. Currently, I am doing a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering at Texas Tech University, Lubbock. In my teaching experience, I have learned how to address the student's doubts in a class and keep them engaged. I have also dealt with the students who were struggling in the class and I helped them to stay motivated by giving them the best concepts.

What is your teaching philosophy?
Teaching is the best platform for the learning process. It helps us to psychologically deal with students of every level. By addressing student's doubts in a simpler manner, I make their concepts clear. Sometimes it's difficult to memorize formulas and equations. In those cases, I give students mnemonics so that the things they learn will be permanently stored in their mind.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
I would introduce myself to my class and try to have all of my students introduced to me. I would talk about some of my inspiring life experience so that they would get motivated.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
First I would give them the main concept involved in a problem, and then I would ask them to solve new problems. If they can't, I would give them a hint. This way, they can develop mental stamina to tackle new problems. I would ask them to go through a lesson before I start and ask them what they learned.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
I would encourage him or her for what he or she has accomplished so far. I would keep track of their weak points and strong points and tell them what to improve and how to move along.
If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?
I would give him or her special courses and teach him in a very simplified manner. I would try to find out the main concept he or she is lagging in, and then address it.
How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?
I would first focus on concentration, and then vocabularies. I would try to make him or her understand the passage by breaking the long sentences into smaller one.
What strategies have you found to be most successful when you start to work with a student?
The chalk and talk method has proven to be the best. Asking them a few intriguing questions, arousing their enthusiasm and solving the problems makes them motivated.
How would you help a student get excited/engaged with a subject that they are struggling in?
By giving them some interesting applications in our daily life and helping them them understand with simple examples.
What techniques would you use to be sure that a student understands the material?
I would first address what's in the material; give them a bigger picture, and then go into minute details. I would ask them to do some problems.
How do you build a student's confidence in a subject?
By asking them about their doubts and seeing their assignments. By teaching with my full effort and making class engaging.
How do you evaluate a student's needs?
By asking them about their doubts from time to time.
How do you adapt your tutoring to the student's needs?
By hearing them and helping them understand in the manner they want.
What types of materials do you typically use during a tutoring session?
I use a whiteboard to draw schematic diagrams and flowcharts to make the concept clear.
