Hobbies

The main interest include family, engineering and reading. I enjoy running and soccer. I also like to read about economics and politics.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

I would ask the student what is subject area. Then, I will see what the problem areas are and see theory being used. After that, go over the main subject (i.e. root) and apply root concept problems that are easy to understand. And finally, assess how effective this approach is and if there other approaches.

How can you help a student become an independent learner?

I would see his/her strategy how to study subjects (from the bottom up). Then, suggest options for studying that potentially are more effective for them. The final step is to adopt a personalized strategy that is adjustable to the student needs and effectiveness to the subject area.

How would you help a student stay motivated?

I would establish measurable goals that align to the student’s progress. This will give them a purpose to study.

If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?

I would step down to the root problem, see if there are more problem areas and go over simple concepts for the student to understand. The "aha" moment will come after compiling various concepts that apply to the main problem area.

How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?

The most effective and instant strategy to tackle RC is to look at the first sentence of the paragraph. Then, read the end of paragraph and understand the main premise. If there's a need for details, you can go 5 lines down from the first sentence and look for details.

What strategies have you found to be most successful when you start to work with a student?

It is simply understanding the root problem- What is it you are looking for?

How would you help a student get excited/engaged with a subject that they are struggling in?

I would establish measurable goals and simple steps to manage the main subjects.
