Currently, I am working as a special education teacher for Chicago Public Schools. I have worked as a substitute teacher at various schools and have had the pleasure of working with students of different personalities and educational levels. I am completing my Masters program in May of 2015 and begin student teaching in January. I completed my undergraduate degree at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). My Master's program is being completed at Northeastern Illinois University.
I have the most experience working with students from 1st grade through 8th grade. My strength is in reading and writing, but I have experience with all of the elementary and middle school subjects. I work with students in small groups, as well as one on one, and believe that all students need to feel their learning is relevant in order to help them comprehend the content. I believe students should feel comfortable voicing their concerns, and discussing their frustrations and fears in order to achieve the best results. I believe in promoting a warm learning environment in which the student can feel excitement towards learning and achieving new goals.
