I am a graduate of Brandeis University and Suffolk Law School. I received my Bachelors degree in Sociology, with an unofficial minor in Psychology. After graduation, in addition to working as a legal assistant and lawyer, I also spent ten years working as a tutor for SAT, SAT Subject tests, PSAT, SSAT, and general academics, primarily Math. I have since made a career transition to teaching and am currently licensed to teach Math and General Science at the middle school level. My favorite subjects have always been Math and Science, especially Biology and Chemistry. I enjoy finding different approaches to math problems and have found ways to make all my students over the years understand the best way for them to solve different types of questions. This ability meant that I was often given students with various learning disabilities, since they knew I could make it work for those students. I believe that learning should be fun and that engaging the student is the best way to get them excited about a subject. In my spare time I am a voracious reader, spend a lot of time with my children and am involved in my synagogue.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
I generally start by asking them questions about their likes, dislikes, learning style/preferences, and what they see as their goals. I also go over general information about the subject/test, even if they have already taken the test before.
