Tutoring review by Mia in Chatham, IL
We went over some online digits practice (topic 10). We talked about his previous grades (strengths/weaknesses). We will work on more sample items and I suggested the use of online practice problems in between our weekly sessions, for extra practice with immediate feedback and explanations.

Tutoring review by Zain in Chatham, IL
For our last session before the student's exam this weekend, I sorted through a variety of ACT math practice questions to select the ones that I know she has needed the most practice with. Even more impressive than her soaking in a huge amount of math knowledge this past month has been her tremendous improvement in being able to intelligently follow through with the process of elimination using strategies like drawing (or redrawing) a visual for the problems, rewriting parts of the problem in her own words, and estimation. I think with these strategies she has gained far more in the past month than just trying to cram as much as possible in terms of mathematical concepts and ideas, though in that respect too she has improved. Most of the problems I worked through with the student, I selected because they drew on more than one of the concepts I have prioritized this past month: solving equations, fractions, operations with ratios and percentages, terminology (parallel/ perpendicular), and making sure to know what exactly word problems are asking for. We also reviewed a number of different units like inches and feet that I clarified with her, as she was unsure on some issues regarding how to convert between units. Besides that, I am happy with how our review went and am confident that she is well-prepared for the exam this weekend. I look forward to hearing back about how everything went.

We went over the new draft of the student's graduate admissions essays. I wanted to emphasize the inclusion of her goals and concrete experiences to make her essays as strong as possible. She gave great feedback, and I look forward to going over further revisions.

Tutoring review by Benjamin in Chatham, IL
We covered trig, logarithms, and the quadratic function. There were no difficulties, the client is just going memorize formulas and give it some practice. He will be getting an algebra 2 book to work on practice problems. There is always noticeable progress with this client.

Tutoring review by Janice in Chatham, IL
During this session, we reviewed 7 sections for the student's test tomorrow. He understands the material very well. We discussed ordering decimals and whole numbers, solving for a variable, and using all 4 operations with decimals and fractions. I was asking leading questions as to how the problem was solved. If he got an incorrect answer, we discussed various strategies to use so it would be less likely to occur.

Tutoring review by Jonathan in Chatham, IL
Today, we went over implicit differentiation and figuring out the coordinates in a tangent line that make it vertical and horizontal. I gave the student many practice problems to work on to make sure he understood the application of chain rule and product rule and knew how to solve them with implicit differentiation concepts. He understood his mistakes and was able to work the problems easily. Next, I gave him practice on derivatives of trigonometric functions, and we went over the questions he didn't understand. After guiding him to the right answer, he was able to solve the problems. Lastly, we did derivative of an inverse function, and he was able to spot his mistake and figured out a way to solve the question easily.
