We worked on questions relating to using integrals to calculate areas, volumes and arc lengths in preparation for an upcoming test an upcoming quiz. The student understands the concepts well but needs to be careful about some of the calculation steps in between.

The student's chemistry final is tomorrow. He had several questions on example problems from his chemistry review:
-Difference between unsaturated, saturated, and supersaturated.
-Which mixture had lowest freezing point?
-K for a reaction that had a coefficient of 2 for all the products and reactants vs K for reaction that did not have any coefficients?
We also went over practice problems that he had been unsure about:
-Calculating Gibbs free energy and what is Gibbs free energy at equilibrium?
-Multi-step problem to calculate the volume of one of the products in the reaction...needed to determine limiting reagent and final volume using the ideal gas law.
-He asked that I look over his approach to determining Q for ice that is melted and then turned into steam...he had not calculated final answer but his set-up looked good.
We will meet on Tuesday to go over any topics he is struggling with for his Algebra 2 final.

We spent all of today just focusing on the timing and the accuracy of the math section. The student knows a lot of math concepts but does not always recognize where he can apply them, and thus occasionally stumbles when he needs to figure out his next step. I gave him worksheets to help him with this. We are into crunch time now, so I gave him lots of vocab to work on so that we can tackle the verbal section in our last meeting before the test.

The student worked on geometry homework focused primarily on inductive and deductive reasoning. We spent the rest of the time brainstorming for an essay.

Today we worked on the student's study guide to prepare him for his final. We only got about halfway done with it but made good progress. I taught him a trick or two about multiplying 9's and 11's and also showed him a quicker way to do mental math. I hope he does well on his final and I urge him to study diligently!

The student completed multiple tasks today during our tutoring session. She finished the party activity from last session, where she needed to determine the amount she saved with coupons and how many weeks it would now take with the coupons in place. She also did a performance task that looked at a family tree and determined years and ages. She needed some reminders on subtraction and borrowing from zero. She then completed another task that asked the amount of buses a school would need based on the amount of students. She did an awesome job, and I am seeing a lot of improvements since the beginning of the year.
