I specifically went over slope-intercept forms, slope problems, and word problems with the student. I noted that she had the most difficulty with word problems, and I will assign her homework accordingly. The mother and I spoke, and I now know which specific topics to target prior to the student's Algebra. I left her with a decent amount of homework.

I reviewed Algebra 1 material with the student for his upcoming test for placement into Algebra 2. We worked problems from chapter reviews for last 3 chapters. We focused on methods of factoring and solving polynomial equations.

The student's teacher has provided him with review problems from Unit 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10, to use as a finals study guide. We began today by working through unit 6 problems, which dealt mostly with applying SohCahToa and the Pythagorean theorem. It also contained questions of elevation/ depression and diagonals of squares. He was able to work through most problems with minimal assistance but he needs to keep practicing. Next tutoring session we will focus on unit 7 review.

The student and I made more flashcards for root words and played the matching game again with all of the root words that she has studied. She remembers best by picture or action association, so I had her draw pictures for some of the cards and for others I acted out the meaning in an overly dramatic manner to help her recall. She also took another practice math portion of the ISEE and scored a 77%, an improvement over last time of about 3%. She seems to do better with each session.

The student took her SSAT and scored in the 82nd percentile overall. Her Verbal went up from practice to 80% and Math was 87%. We did an RC section today and she answered all questions correctly except 1. She's going to take a practice test for homework.

The student and I finished working on her last online assignment (section 4.6). We also completed and went over the fourth practice test. She was very confident completing this practice test and found correct solutions to each question. She is planning on completing the test and getting in touch with me afterward if she needs any clarification.
