We covered Pythagorean theory solving for different triangles. The basic struggle was just application of the formulas given. Very good student, respectable, and hard worker. Easy to teach, received all information, was very patient and we worked together as a team. We used dialogue to "talk" through the process of each problem so that repetition was involved and committed to memory for the student. We worked each problem together so that I could check his computations quickly and we were able to finish all of his problem set worksheet in the time allotted in our session. He was preparing for a quiz the next day.

Today we worked on log functions with trig functions. We reviewed his homework problems and discussed what needed to be manipulated in order to make the problem solvable.

We targeted compositions of functions and their domains. The student seemed to have a good grasp on this before we left the subject. We then worked on exponential equations with common bases, and began looking at logarithmic equations.

For this session, I assisted the student with a capitalization assignment. After he completed the homework assignment, I went over with him some more practice with capitalization. After that, we went over his notecards from his vocabulary that we have been collecting over the summer. We finished with him doing some more practice for social studies.

Student 1 and I went over all his classes and grades and figured out what we really need to focus on - algebra and biology. We discussed his algebra homework and went over old quizzes to start preparing for his test Friday. I did the same thing with Student 2. We studied for her science quiz, and she was anxious to finish.

We did the student's homework, which was from Lesson 1-2 Order of Operations. She understands order of operations very fluently. She never hesitates when doing these problems in terms of the order. This is a huge success because Order of Operations is of such great importance as Algebra gets more advanced. I encouraged her to consistently check her work. She always seems to catch her mistake when she reviews her work. I will be giving her some practice problems for her upcoming test.
