Certified Tutor

As a graduate of Harvard University with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology, I bring over four years of tutoring experience across a variety of subjects, including Algebra, English, Psychology, and SAT preparation. In high school, I was a peer tutor of various subjects (math, english, biology, Latin, etc.) for three years and additionally acted as an after school assistant for the AP English department. During my gap year between high school and college, I worked as a private tutor specializing in math ranging from pre-algebra to algebra II and geometry. Now, for the past year, in addition to tutoring, I have been working as a college application consultant, editing various application essays and consulting common app applications as a whole.

My background in psychology informs my empathy-first interpersonal approach, rooted in understanding how each student learns best, fostering a supportive environment that encourages growth, confidence, and curiosity. I believe that every student has the potential to succeed, and I strive to tailor my teaching methods to meet their unique needs, as tutoring is far more than just explaining concepts: it is also a delicate interpersonal relationship. I have often worked with students who are struggling academically and have grown to resent learning and school, and who have internalized a sense of helplessness, believing that they are simply "dumb" or "bad at school." Thus, a big focus on my approach to tutoring hinges on building confidence in my students and trying to shift their outlook from a fixed mindset to a growth mindset.
